I really can't decide between these two schools mainly because I don't know much about the pre-med for either school. All I know is that Case Western Medical School is ranked higher than Wake Forest Medical School.

I'm just going for UNDERGRADUATE, and I'm having trouble deciding which college to go to.

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks guys.

Do NOT make a decsion for undergrad based on that school’s med school ranking. This is a very big mistake.

You are comparing two VERY different schools; have you visited either? If not, you REALLY need to do so before making a decision because you will have two very different undergrad experiences at these two schools. You need to determine which is the better fit for you since that will contribute greatly to your academic success.

CWRU is urban, on the east side of downtown Cleveland about 2 miles (at most) south of Lake Erie. The area surrounding the school is the old Italian neighborhood called Hough (pronounced HUFF) which now has some remnants of “little Italy” but is also a bit on the sketchy side. Most of the fine arts from Cleveland are centered in the area near CWRU with Severance Hall (home of the symphony) and the Cleveland Museum of Art virtually on campus. There are no real intercollegiate athletics of any consequence at CWRU so your spare time will be spent much differently than at WF.

WF is a very southern school located in Winston Salem, NC. The school has its roots as a religiously affiliated institution as do many other private schools in the south. The campus is much nicer than CWRU …it really is a campus in the truest sense, not one that was created in the middle of a city by tearing down adjoining properties. Wake is in the ACC so you’ll have major collegiate football, basketball and other similar activities for diversions. Football Saturdays and big time basketball can make your undergrad experience much more memorable and are chances to meet and build friendships.

Students who go there call it Work Forest because of its notoriously tough grading curves. It does have excellent placement into med schools so I have to assume that med school admission committees are fully aware of the rigor and grading curve in the sciences. Every WF grad I know speaks very highly of the school.

Make your decsion based on what school is the better overall fit for you; not how good their med schools are. Most schools with med schools limit the number of their own undergrads that they accept anyway and are often tougher admits than at other schools.

Both schools can and will prepare you well for med school. The big difference is going to be the content and quality of your undergrad experience…what happens AFTER classes end each day. Don’t undervalue that aspect of college because it really does matter.
