Hi, so after reading many posts on CC it seems as though CWRU tracks interest a lot when it comes to admissions. I was wondering if it is such a good idea to email my region admissions counselors and ask some questions about the school. How should I address the email and are there any questions I should definitely stay away from? Is this even such a good idea? Do you have any personal experience with this?

I would not ask a question unless you have one that isn’t answered on their website. Have you attended a campus tour? Did Case visit your high school and did you attend? These both represent interest. You can also do an interview with an alum near you <a href=“Alumni Interview Request”>https://go.case.edu/register/alumniinterview

I agree, don’t ask a question that is answered on the website. But you can email to ask about an interview or another specific question. You should visit if possible (take the official tour/information session), interview, get on the mailing list if there is one, attend any presentations in your area etc.

Also check out the CWRU forum: <a href=“Case Western Reserve University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/case-western-reserve-university/

Case does track interest.

+Have you signed up for information? <a href=“Request for Information”>https://go.case.edu/register/requestinformation

+Have you attended a college fair or high school visit?

+Have you attended a regional information session? (You get info for these if you sign up for information)

+Have you gone on a tour/open house if possible? <a href=“October Fall Open House”>October Fall Open House;

+Have you signed up for an alumni interview if you couldn’t make it to campus? <a href=“Alumni Interview Request”>https://go.case.edu/register/alumniinterview

+Asking questions is fine: admission@case.edu
or you can ask the admissions counselor in your area; <a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Case Western Reserve University”>Undergraduate Admission | Case Western Reserve University;

If the question is on the website, I would not ask it, of course but otherwise that is what they are there for. But don’t ask just to “show interest”.

I would address it as:

"Dear <counselor>,</counselor>

I am interested in applying to CWRU this year and I had a question about…

blah blah blah

Thank you,

Thank you guys! :)
