***Case Western Reserve University Class of 2020 Applicant Thread***

I applied EA with a 3.5 UW/3.9 W. 33 ACT.
Biology Major

I haven’t done an interview because i don’t think I’d do rather good in one? Do you guys think that interviews matter that much to CASE and if it does you think it’s the gesture of doing the interview that matters or are they actually looking for you to do well in the interview itself?

I live quite close to the school so i think they find it sketchy that i haven’t interviewed

@Leicisbest From what I understand demonstrated interest is very important for Case. So if you haven’t visited, visit. And I would seriously consider an interview.

How do you request an interview?

To request an alumni interview if you are not near the school: https://go.case.edu/register/alumniinterview

If you can visit the school:

I do alumni interviews for Case and it is nothing you need to be worried over. It gives Case a chance to get to know you more than the common app allows and for the alumni to talk to you about Case.

I had an interview yesterday and it was super chill. She just asked me about my interests after college and talked to me mainly about her time there and how she liked it.

I requested an alumni interview and I was never contacted for one…

My kid did likewise, and never got a response. Interested if others have had similar experiences. (It has me a little concerned.)

I have applied EA as well. Earth Science or Astronomy Major.

DD submitted a request online and when we heard nothing she called. From what I understand an alumni was lined up and they were surprised we weren’t contacted. She told the admissions officer that she was still interested and the following week we were contacted by the alumni.

My daughter also asked for an interview and was never contacted, we’re in Boston so maybe there aren’t as many alum here?

I had a similar interview experience (in that I requested one and was never contacted). I was a bit surprised, since I figured that the admissions office would at least let me know if they had no available alums in my area. When a Case admissions rep visited my high school, I asked her about it; she said not to worry since they often have too few alums to conduct interviews or sometimes alums don’t follow up with their interviewees, but the fact that I requested an interview will show up on my application.

D had an interview with an alum on Oahu. She said it was very laid back and not much about her, which was fine. He compared and contrasted Cleveland to Hawaii. That left plenty to talk about!

I am alumni interviewer…when did you request one? What I have seen is that I have to login to see my list of potential interviewees…but after a couple of weeks the person in charge of interviewees will assign one to me. Also with thanksgiving many people are quite busy. In addition, there have to be alumni interviewers in your area.

@bopper My kid requested an interview mid-September, got a confirmation email, and has heard nothing back since. We’re near a major metropolitan area in the NE, but maybe not a big hub for active Case alums?

I emailed admissions and a day later an alumni called me. I think that may have sped up the process?

My son applied EA 3 years ago and was accepted. He is greatly enjoying Case. Since the school opened up ED last year I would expect that they will be pulling more from that group in the future. As time goes on EA and RD applicants are going to need to approach MIT scores for acceptance - math >=750 and gpa’s close to 4.0. This school is serious about it’s future plans and rightfully so. It fits a niche that few universities do - private, small/medium, tech-driven, “maker” culture and unabashedly mid-western.

I emailed admissions ~3 weeks after my initial request (which I made at the very end of August) and got an email back the next day saying that they were working hard to match me. I never did end up getting matched. Guess there aren’t any available alums in my area.

Just applied PPSP yesterday, crying about my essays but still excited!

@porcupine98 I requested an interview in early october, i live in a VERY major metro area, and was never contacted for an interview either…
