Hi all,
I applied to Case RD and got accepted (yay), but what really matters are the finances.
My estimated EFC was around $35k- which is absolute nonsense. In reality, we can probably contribute around $4,000 (no idea where the FAFSA got that number from).
As such, I only got $24,000 in financial aid/scholarships, so the gap is around $42,000 of uncovered finances (including room and board).
My other choices are also very expensive, though significantly less so.
University of Pittsburgh will be about $29,000 for full price, Stetson University will be about $26,580, Stony Brook will be about $34,000.
Case is definitely my top choice school but is it worth taking out potentially massive amounts of student loan debts (considering my other options)?
We often suggest that you run Net Price Calculators at schools to see what the price may be for your situation before you apply.
What is your state school?
You could go to community college and then transfer to your State school
What are your GPA/SAT? Is there colleges you could get automatic scholarships for like U of Alabama?
@hayekian , the University of Pittsburgh is a fantastic school for many fields. My D has chosen Pitt over BU in a similar situation that you are in. BU was still too much after a very generous grant. She was deferred and then waitlisted by Case.
