Case Western, University of Washington, UCLA- Chances

You GC might be able to say something about it in his/her rec if you mention that 10% is important for scholarships. Top 15% + SAT was something like $14,000 or $15,000.

Well that's good. My parents can handle tuition up to about $15K a year. So if I can even get a half tuition scholarship it would be fine. I'm also not so worried about taking out loans because I want to go to medical school, which means that my future salary will be enough to pay them off.

I've actually talked to a guy with a PhD from an expensive university, and he says that the interest rates on his college loans were very cheap so he doesn't bother paying them off.

ohio_mom, what if the school doesn't give class rank or by 10%s? My school only gives quintiles (20%s)?

atomicfusion,
I don't know the answer - but I expect there might be some communications behind the scenes between your GC and the school. Again, the more your GC knows about what your goals are, the better they can help.

Anyone interested in medical school or a science major at Case Western? Say so especially if you'll be in class of 2011. Maybe we will see each other there.

Any other opinions on my chances at the listed colleges, or anywhere else for that matter.

Those aren't my final picks, as I'm only headed into my junior year. I'm open to suggestions at where I should consider.

I'm going to cry if I don't get some replies soon.

i think u have a great shot. i wish my school had the science honors society, im interested in science and math especially. ur ECs are great. habitat for humanity sounds good. i wonder why they dont have that where i live. o well. wow a 1520 on the SAT without even studying?? wow omg thats amazing. ull definitely do great on the new one too. good luck and thx for ur comments.

your scores are great and will be competitive at any university! i am an entering freshman at ucla!!! i was also accepted by cal, usc, cornell, georgetown and the other uc's.i was placed on the waiting list at stanford. i also plan to go into medicine! i researched all this crap for three long years so i know what im talking about and it shows because i got into some of the top schools.
join more clubs but try to hold an office and volunteer in a hospital!!! take more AP's and have a strong junior and senior schedule. i also played volley ball (im 5'8 1/2" i feel your pain.)
i think you have a good shot at:
NYU, Cornell (apply for Cornell's summer college it will boost your app!! i did it and look where i got!), princeton, harvard (its a bit over rated), pretty much any ivy. ucla and cal will be tough because you are out of state. usc is in your reach as is stanford, u of michigan, johns hopkins, rice, and chicago. good luck.
YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT IS KEY!!!

Here is a stat to add.

AP Psych: 4.

This is the first time I read this thread, and i managed to get halway through before posting. It sounds like you're definitely applying to Case Western, and you mentioned about UCLA earlier. Flopsy assessed you earlier as out-of-state, but that's after you mentioning-

"Flopsy thanks for your opinion. How do you think I'd be if I was in state for UCLA? I have relatives in California that I could live with."

She/he then changed your chances. You would not be considered in-state as an applicant even if you used a relative's address- it's that simple. Your high school's address will show- obviously- that you're an out-of-state applicant. The difference between in-state and OOS comprehensive tuition is roughly $17,000- the admissions office might be tricked (by some strange occurrence) into letting you through as in-state, but the financial aid office will correct the admissions office IMMEDIATELY when they find out you're trying to trick the university out of $17,000 bucks. I don't think you want to transfer high schools into California for the sake of increasing your chances to the UC's anyhow, since you stand (for now) to have a solid shot (slight reach) to UCLA. Now, it's a "slight reach" because many things can happen between now and later... you're still too young for this- come back next summer and we can help make accurate assessments! For now, it's all speculation... best of luck,

TTG

(P.S. don't bump this thread, young'un)

Well, thanks for the advice. It's my thread, I'll do what I please.

I figured I was too young for this, but then again I took the SAT, I have two years worth of grades, and I at least have one AP score.

This is just a cumulative evaluation, I'm not saying nothing will change. My question is sort of whether or not I'm on the right track for certain universities and what I need to improve on.
