Casey Anthony?

I can't help but be curious about this case in Orlando with the missing little girl whose mother didn't report until five weeks had gone by. What do you think happenned there? Do you think the grandparents are clueless (granddad's a cop) or are they in on something? I know its lurid but I can't help being fascinated by it.

I think she may have killed the little girl accidentally by maybe not supervising her in a pool, or left her in a hot car to party, or something like that, and then disposed of her body. (hence the shovel borrowing). Now they’ve found clothing in the woods near where she left her car but nobody’s saying if they’re the little girl’s or not. I can’t believe she’ll be out on bail to “help look” for Caylee as of ?? today.

I don’t think the grandmother would have called the police if she had anything to do with it. IMHO, the mother must be mentally ill and her family has always covered for her, until finally calling the police. You can see how they make excuses for her and really try to believe what she is saying, all the while denying that she has any type of mental illness.

Since Caylee and her mother lived with the grandparents wouldn’t you think they’d wonder where she was for FIVE weeks? With a babysitter? That would be a very expensive situation for an unemployed young woman. Then the bounty hunter said that maybe Casey gave Caylee as collateral (!!?) until she could pay for some drugs that she’d gotten. ??

Yes, Toledo, nobody ever says anything about her history, prior schooling, or anything…its like she has no past to prove that she’d never do such a thing. Only thing they say about her is what a devoted mother she’s been! I guess the paternal grandparents just found out last month that Caylee even existed.

While i hope I am wrong, I am leaning at the moment toward that Casey Anthony accidentally killed her child. I feel that if her child had been kidnapped, she’d be frantically searching for her during the five weeks, let alone letting her parents know what happened at the time. As well, I do not buy the idea that she is keeping mum to protect the child because now the police are involved and even if there are threats to her if she spoke, the police have ways of dealing with such things to protect her as an informant, etc. She should not fear the police if she has a kidnapped child, in other words. Also, there are other things that point to a death such as the smell in the car.

It is odd that the grandparents didn’t wonder during the five weeks where the granddaughter was because they were actively in her life as the child lived with them. I realize that Casey ran off for five weeks and so they had less contact but still it is all so odd. I do not think the grandparents are involved in the disappearance and I feel for them as they are not only missing their grandchild and deeply concerned about her, but they want to believe their daughter (a bond with a child is very strong and most parents are apt to support their kids). By the same token, they admit that their D lies a lot and obviously the grandmother was angry when she found out the grandchild was missing and called the police and went against her own D to do so.

It looks as though this tragic story may be close to being resolved. The remains of a young child have been found this morning near the family’s home.

How sad. I admit I haven’t followed this closely because it has seemed so apparent to me the mom is somehow responsible and the whole episode disgusts me – how the grandparents are either in total denial or complicit.

“I can’t believe she’ll be out on bail to “help look” for Caylee as of ?? today.”

I bet the police will be watching her closely as the police try to find Caylee’s body. In fact, that may be how the police found the body today.

Yes, this has been a very sad case. I feel so sorry particularly for the grandparents. It’s hard enough to have a grandchild presumably murdered, but to think that your own beloved daughter did it, lied about it, and was able to go about her life looking perfectly normal and happy makes the case especially heartbreaking.

If someone on Casey’s computer searched for info about chloroform, and duct tape was found on the skull in the area of the mouth, how was this an accidental death?

It’s pretty clear that the police are sure that the child died, and Casey hid the body. The woman is a pathological liar and a mess. I’m sure that her own parents suspect the same thing if they think about it, but find it too painful to go there.

If they find Casey’s prints on anything, they’ll have her.

I am so sorry that the little girl was not found alive. I had hoped that maybe the mom had carelessly given her to a sitter she hardly knew who then ran off with the child.

This is the worst example of parents who are in denial about their own kid. Last night they said Casey’s on a sedative after hearing the news. I bet she is.

I have no sympathy for the parents. If they hadn’t been in denial of Casey Anothony’s problems for so long, there could have gotten her help a long time ago.

I am fully expecting them to say something along the lines of, “The body found couldn’t possibly be Caylee’s”.

Oh, my heart breaks for Casey’s parents. I believe that they tried to raise 2 decent young adults. Now they have to face the fact their granddaughter was allegedly murdered by their own daughter, and their own daughter tried to cover it up and continued to have her night life.

When I heard the breaking news yesterday about a child’s remains being found, so many things ran through my mind. I do believe that Casey Anthony is guilty as sin of harming her child. But when those remains were found, you know who else I thought about? Trenton Duckett. Remember the little boy who went missing and all signs pointed to his young mother’s involvement? This was near Orlando in Leesburg and Nancy Grace covered the story hard. She interviewed the missing boy’s mother (put her through the ringer, really), and then the woman committed suicide the day after the Nancy Grace interview, or sometime shortly thereafter, and the little boy has never been found. I believe he was 2 years old.

I have sympathy for Casey’s grandparents. I think that most parents would find it impossible to believe without irrefutable evidence that their beloved child murdered her toddler, lied about the murder, then went merrily about her life.

The whole story is so disturbing. I cannot begin to imagine who could harm this child. I have somewhat followed the story, when it is on the news. The one thing that has always seemed odd is the phone call from the grandmother to the police and her reference to the smell of a dead body coming from Casey’s car…then trying to back pedal and claim it was old pizza.
I never really thought of the possibility that Casey killed her accidentally, but I guess that is a possibilty. Who hasn’t read a story about the parents who left a child in a hot car…if this is what happened, how could she just go about her life, her partying as if her child never existed ?

“.if this is what happened, how could she just go about her life, her partying as if her child never existed ?”

She could be a psychopath, which would add to the reasons that her parents would have great difficulty believing that their daughter killed Caylee.

Given the searches for broken necks and chloroform on Casey’s mom’s computer, it doesn’t sound like Caylee was killed accidentally. I imagine, though, that accepting a manslaughter charge may be the plea deal that saves the mom from the electric chair. Assuming the body found is Caylee’s I doubt that the prosecutor will stick to his promise of not calling for the death penalty.

If they find evidence such as Casey’s fingerprints on the bag and duct tape and then there allegedly was duct tape on the child’s mouth, that would imply it was not an accidental death and also that she was involved.

I recall the early days of this case and one thing that stood out to me as very strange was how Casey Anthony, who claimed that others had her child, would not give information to the police claiming fear for her child’s safety and that there were things she could not say that might jeopardize the child’s safety. I found that extremely odd because even if she felt her child was kidnapped and in harm’s way, telling the POLICE as much information as you know is not going to bring more harm but has a chance of helping the child. Also, if her child was kidnapped, she was not only not out looking for her, but never mentioned such a horrific happenstance to her own parents.

It is very chilling that not only could this young woman have murdered her child, but to then go about her life right afterward as if nothing happened, and partying away. It also seemed odd that the grandparents had not seen the child in a month only because Casey and the child had been living with them and so they typically saw the child frequently, and you would think they would have questioned her whereabouts sooner.

I do feel sorry for the grandparents because not only have they lost a precioius grandchild whom they were very close to, but to even have to fathom that their daughter was responsible is too much to bear and in the limelight on top of it all. I think they wanted to believe she was alive as their D kept telling them so but deep down they had their own doubts…the grandfather is quoted as suspecting death given the odors in the car and so forth. But they tried at the same time to defend their daughter as she is their daughter and also they likely had high hopes that by some miracle the granddaughter was alive and after all, their D kept claiming that was so.

I think the likelihood of the body found is NOT Caylee is impossible.
It is on the news right now…I didn’t know from what I read on CNN website that the mouth was duct taped shut.

Imagine what the meter reader who made this discovery is going through right now.
