Casting News

I read some casting news this morning that just made my day - proof that "good guys" do occasionally still finish first, even on the "new," not improved, celebrity filled Broadway.

As a result (wait for it, the casting news is coming.....) I thought it might be fun to have a thread wherein we could share all sorts of casting news that actually touches our own lives: professional (good and bad!) AND personal (our children, our friends, neighbors, etc). Thought it might also be interesting to share what we know (when we know it) of the "how" someone got the job - through an agent? any insider connections you are aware of? walked in off the street? read a casting call somewhere? Sound like fun? Inquiring minds want to know!!! Previews of coming attractions, maybe?

Now, the wonderful casting news. I read in the NYT this morning that Christine D'Amboise has been cast as Cassie in the Broadway bound revival of Chorus Line that will open in San Francisco. Yay!!!! She's a first rate dancer and an utter professional who has more often than not been the bridesmaid instead of the bride. I for one, couldn't be happier.

Does Charlotte have a sister just as talented as she is??? I saw Charlotte D'Amboise in Damn Yankees with Jerry Lewis many years ago, and she stole the show from Jerry, which isn't easy. I am thrilled for her, too. It makes me want to go see the show.

Nope - it's the same one. She is in her early 40's and looks like she's in her 20's!

Ooooops! My bad! Thanks Gkoukla. Of course it is Charlotte, not Christine. There is only one and I had the misfortune to misname her. My brain was probably stuck on Christina Applegate and the whole Sweet Charity debacle wherein Charlotte stepped in for Christina when she hurt her ankle and then had to withdraw right before opening night when Christina returned.

Great idea! I'm especially interested in anyone going for summer stock (and anything else, of course!) My daughter just sent in her applications for NETC and Strawhat, but someone said they're already filled up... we'll see, I guess!

Woot woot!! Big news, everyone! Sue's (5pants) twins have made it into Playbill! Check this out: http://www.playbill.com/events/event_detail/6977.html
They are in Pirandello's Henry IV at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. I think Sue might have posted about the casting in the past, but it's such fun seeing them in Playbill. Congratulations to Sue and the boys.
