Hello everyone, My room assignment is Castor Hall for spring term. Ive heard many different things about this dorm and seen pictures, but does anyone have any experiences in Castor Hall, good or bad? I'm a girl so is it hard to get ready in a community bathroom with many girls around? Please and Thank you :)

I was in a Castor double my freshman year. The rooms are about 12’*16’. Castor dorm was all females when I was in it. I think it is coed now. The community baths were clean and not crowded. Castor is convenient to classrooms, dining hall, and close to Marshall Student Union. I had no complaints about Castor other than the room was tight for space…all dorm rooms are.

Castor isn’t coed in the way Beta is. The floors are coed while the wings are single sex.

Castor isn’t bad. I didn’t care for it. I didn’t like community bathrooms. I didn’t like how cramped the rooms got. I did like how the wing had common areas. It created a great place where we could have girls’ nights.

The bathroom have the potential to get nasty. Fast. It all depends on the girls you live with. My floor wasn’t bad. Getting ready in the mornings isn’t difficult. Although, a good amount of people are assigned to a bathroom, this does not mean that everyone is there at once. People have different class times and get ready at different rates. I’ve never had to wait for a bathroom, sink, or shower.

If you decide you don’t like Castor, you can always change dorms.

Thank you lizard and Niquii77! I hope I can adjust but it doesn’t sound too bad!

Is Castor hall for freshmen only

do you get to pick your dorm ?

and if you apply early do you usually get your number 1 or 2 choice?

also can freshman get single dorm suites?

like a common room but each person has an indivisual room
?

thanks!

Castor is only for first years.

You can’t pick your hall of choice or your actual dorm room. If you apply soon after housing applications opens AND complete all the required steps in order to get your spot secured, you are likely to get your first or second preference. If you apply to an LLC, you are even more likely, if not guaranteed, to get the LLC’s hall.

USF doesn’t have a room layout like that, Robby. Individual rooms that have a common room have a kitchen, as well.

Ok

for example i like the layout of the holly apartments

I saw they are for freshman 2013-2014

Could i request that dorm, its the four single suites o

You can make Holly one of your preferences, yes.

Alrite cool thanks

Well first i need to hear back… And be accepted!!
