Catalog error re: Latin AP credits

Some of you may remember me inquiring awhile back about the number of credit hours one gets for the Latin AP exam. As pointed out by mc2k, the current catalog says you get 14 hours for scoring a 5 on the Latin:Virgil exam.

Well, guess what. The catalog is wrong. I emailed the registrar asking why my son looked to have been shorted two hours, and I got a reply from a nice lady explaining that the catalog is wrong and is being revised. You get 12 hours for a 5. The reason is that Latin 101 and 102 are 3 hour courses, unlike other languages (Spanish, French, etc) where the introductory courses are all 4 hours.

Not that this is any big deal. Carry on.

…Phooey.

NRDmom…

Is this an issue for your child? 12 credits still satisfies the FL req’t, right?

Actually he got a 4 on the AP so only 9 credits but it makes the difference from him having ‘Junior’ status at the end of semester 1 as opposed to ‘Sophomore’. I assumed the higher level would have more benefit in class selection. Or is it strictly hours? Still trying to figure everything out…

Strictly credit hours determine registration.

Please note that the number of credit hours your child will have at the end of Fall Frosh are NOT what counts…because your child won’t have all those credits at Reg time. The number of credits that a student has at the beginning of the semester is what determines when he/she registers.

Here’s a past breakdown
