Catholic Life at UNC?

UNC is one of my top choices, but my one reservation about it is that it is not a catholic school. In that regard, how close are the Roman Catholic Churches on campus? Also are there catholic service groups on campus? I know most schools have a house of worship with a mixed religion service, but that does not really appeal to me (or my parents especially), so is it easy to get to mass every sunday? Thanks!

I’m not Catholic, but maybe this will help- you can contact them.

Thank you! This is definitely helpful

I’m not religious, but I have quite a few friends in clubs like InterVarsity. There are lots of active Christian groups on campus (I believe at least one is specifically Catholic). There are also a number of groups that go to local churches, and many people are available to give rides. Some of the churches are also within walking distance (I believe there’s on Franklin St.).

I have several catholic friends. The Newman Center is hugely popular on campus, and all my catholic friends love it. They’ve made a ton of friends there, and they tend to spend a lot of time there because it’s a great place to study and there are volunteer opportunities, etc.
