Catholic- ness

Ok so I'm not catholic. Will that be a problem? Will I be looked at differently on the application? I've heard in the interviews that they ask about the whole thing and i'm kind of at a loss of what to say. So I should probably do some research. But if anyone knows anything about the environment at georgetown, let me know!

Oooh, I have the opposite question..I am catholic, will that help me out any in admissions?

I don't think they consider religious affiliation in admissions. It's student body is only about half Catholic anyway.

Don't believe stuff you hear, because its different with every interview... with that said, they (the interviewers) are always going to ask about your high school accomplishments, etc... I never got the Catholic question, don't sweat it, definitely not a big deal...

excerpts:
From its inception in 1789, Georgetown has welcomed students of -- in the words of founder Archbishop John Carroll -- "every religious profession."

Equal Opportunity

Georgetown University does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability, color, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies and programs.

whether this means they give religious preference... we can't be sure. unfortunately they do not post their common data set online, so "considered admissions criteria" can't be referenced

Georgetown is the world's only Catholic school with a campus rabbi and imam. They make quite a point of their religious inclusiveness. Religious preference will be a non-issue.

They stay Catholic by recruiting heavily from Catholic high schools. I don't get the impression that they affirmative action based on religious preference. Of course, there is no way to verify that.

I'm pretty sure that "Catholic-ness" is one of the least looked at factors on your application. That sort of question never came up in my interview (or anyone else that I know of). Worry more about things like your essay, recommendations, and scores, that you can actually do something about.
