I've been accepted to Stonehill and am considering going to the school. What is the Catholic presence like? Is it strong, or does it seem to affect the school in any big way? Also, I've heard that Stonehill's a big partying school. I've heard about students getting smashed and huge parties that the cops had to go break up. As a Catholic, non-partyer, -non/drinker, these are important factors for me in choosing a school.

I have some friends there. On the weekends, kids drink in their dorms and then go to the Courts for parties. There are mixers, but they've been trying to "change the face of them" because of too many hospital transports. There are plenty of hospital transports because of alcohol on the weekends.

DD is a freshman. As far as the drinking goes, it is no different than most colleges. Drinking can easily be found but there are certainly other things for kids to do. My D doesn't drink(yet) and doesn't feel that uncomfortable. She's told me about the hospital transports etc. She finds kids like herself and has a good time doing non drinking stuff. She also goes to parties and there are kids that do and not drink there too. It is a catholic school but I don't think the presence is super strong. She went to a catholic high school and got a little burned out on it all so chooses to do none of it now. It's there if you want it, but not overbearing if you don't. She does things with the ministry etc just because she likes the events but no one is pushing her into anything. It really is a great school. She's been really happy there and has had a wonderful experience so far. PM me if you have any specifics. I can send you her email address. Good Luck!!
