The title basically says it all..
I'm looking for some Catholic schools that would be known for pretty strong engineering programs. Any suggestions?

Notre Dame meets both.

Okay. I hadn’t really heard much about their engineering program.

Now that I think about it, what would one say about Saint Louis University?

5pencer, can you define “strong”? To me strong would mean top 20 or top 30. I cannot think of a single Catholic university that has a “strong” engineering program. I can think of a few that are solid tough.

As hahalolk pointed out, Notre Dame is good, ranked #45 in Engineering according to the USNWR.

Another Catholic university with a respected Engineering program is Villanova.

I also hear decent things about Santa Clara University.

Finally, Gonzaga University and Loyola Marymount are supposed to be decent in Engineering.

I would not use the word “strong” to describe any of those Engineering programs, but they are all respected nonetheless.

Well, if it’s well-known and respected in the engineering field, it’s a school I would like to hear about.

In that case, the 5 universities I listed in post #6 are all worth looking into.

Santa Clara
LMU
Gonzaga
SLU
Villanova

Any other suggestions?

Santa Clara, because of location/network, would be by far the best.

It should be noted that in the rankings JohnAdams provided, the quality of the schools declines far more quicky as you go down the list in programs whose highest degree is a Bachelor’s or Master’s.

Alexandre, that does make sense…as in the 2nd 10 of the first group (BS and MS) would start in the rankings of the first group (PHD) at about #41. The BS Group’s top 3 would be in the PHD’s Group top 20.

^don’t worry, Alexandre told me earlier that Clemson does not have a strong/reputable or diverse engineering major. I feel so secure in my degree value :)

pierre, when you say “Clemson” are you talking about his one from the list above?

Clemson University (SC)* 2.9

haha yeah, sorry just had to say that since I’m still kinda bitter :)

What about Marquette?

I strongly recommend Santa Clara, Gonzaga, Seattle U, Saint Louis Univ. All excellent Jesuit colleges with a long history of engineering programs. Saint Louis feeds into the aeronautical programs as does Seattle U.

Manhattan College in New York (in a toney section of the Bronx) is also very well respected in engineering. Its a LaSallian Christian Bros. School.

University of Dayton in Ohio. Only around $29k too.

^^^

The cost to attend UDayton is about $41k
