I noticed that the Catholic University of America, Benjamin T. Rome School of Music is not on any of the lists for top musical theatre colleges. CUA has one of the best programs in America. The students are extremely talented and the staff is very impressive in their theatre background. The Catholic University choir has just appeared on television and their very own teacher is on Broadway in the cast of Ragtime. YOU DO NOT NEE TO BE CATHOLIC TO GO TO CUA… they are very diverse and accept all students of different religions and cultures. i STRONGLY recommend CUA to all who ask me. Not only are you in one of the best music schools in the USA, but you can go to sports games and get the full college experience.

I was there when I had a summer internship in DC. Isn’t it kind of… in the ghetto?

They had good cafeteria food, though. :)

I visited the campus last fall and it was beautiful and the area right by it was also very nice. I drove by a huge herd of deer in a park right off campus!

I live in the DC area. Catholic U and the immediate surrounding area are very nice. However, being a campus smack dab in an urban area, students need to be cautious at all times. The campus is accessible to the Metro (subway) and you can get around the whole city that way.

Yes, the school borders on an area that is not the best in DC (hardly a “ghetto”) but it is also not the worst. Again, students must be aware of their surroundings, travel with others and be city smart.

My D was accepted to the MT program here and I would have not had a problem with her going here. We know a lot of kids in the program as well as some of the faculty and they are terrific. I would have had no problem with her going to CUA – however, I would have provided a lot of safety lectures just as I do for her today about Syracuse U where she goes to school as it is a campus in a city.
