Catholicness = discipline?

Because Notre Dame is a Catholic university, do you think the religious standards and rules it maintains develops your overall study habits, personality, and social atmosphere at ND? I mean I understand that there are drinking, drug, depressional problems everywhere in college, but I curious as to how you think the ND Catholic traditions help maintain the tempo of the campus?

your thoughts?

i think its religousness would encourage certain positive habits personally but that is jsut me and it can't be forced on some one

I think the Catholic nature plays in a bit, but not too much. I don't know, ND is just comfortable to me. It is work hard-play hard, no doubt, but we don't really have hard alcohol, drugs, and parietals (while sometimes annoying) help prevent getting kicked out of the room all night for your roommate's girlfriend. Overall I think it makes for a good experience, but it is much more restrictive than state schools, be forewarned.

ND's pretty conservative. Parietals (see above post) can be annoying, but they're a good idea. There's not really a drug problem here. Even cigarettes are pretty uncommon. Like any college, though, there's alcohol... you're not going to get away from that. Overall there are quite a few rules, but you get used to them pretty quickly.
