So me and two other people were caught cheating by our chemistry teacher. I think he will let it slide and let us retake the test for up to 100% but will also call our parents and maybe even tell the office. Will this show up on my record? I denied it so idk what is going to happen. What should I do? Plz help, I rly don’t want this to hurt my chances of getting into a good college like an Ivy League.
If it does come on your record, it will actually be pretty serious - universities take academic integrity very seriously.
If you denied it and no further discussions were made, take this as an opportunity and a chance given to you to review, reflect, and reconsider your choices moving forward.
Why did you deny it if you did it? Being a liar and a cheater is worse than cheating alone.
Rly?
In the event this is a legit post, you will find it’s going to be a problem. I seriously doubt your teacher is going to let it slide. If you were caught, you can deny it all you like, but the school will have little reason to doubt the teacher. It’s a serious allegation and why would the teacher risk his career by making up something like that?
You cheated and you know it. The others who were caught will possibly make deals to lessen their own punishments. So you can do the right thing and admit to it, and deal with the consequences. Trust me, the more you deny it, the worse it’s going to be for you.
Do you think teachers don’t talk? You will need great recommendations to get into an Ivy League school. You think your chem teacher is going to let his reputation be ruined by falsely accusing you? You think other teachers won’t hear that you were accused of cheating and denied it?
It’s far better to address this issue right away and hope you can do something to mitigate the consequences to your recommendations from teachers and your guidance counselors. The best outcome for you is to make amends and do your best to be humble and use this as a lesson. Your recommendations are going to be far better if you accept the punishment and earn some respect by being honest.
It probably won’t show-up on your transcript. Colleges might still ask on the application, though. If a college professor catches a student cheating, they can give you a zero on a test, drop you from their class with an F, or report it to the dean and you get put on academic probation. You can avoid all of this by studying for tests and writing your own papers
If you cheat, going to an Ivy League school should be the least of your worries.
The common app has a specific question about disciplinary action.
Did you cheat in order to get a better grade, in order to get into the Ivy leagues?
Wrong, wrong, wrong way of thinking. And YOU LIED!
You won’t be able to handle the workload at an Ivy League if you find that you have to cheat now to keep up! Fess up!
The kids who get into the Ivies don’t have to cheat to get the kind of grades they deserve. They’ll be a lot smarter than you and they will turn you in if they see you cheating.
The professors won’t have to catch you, it’s the other students that will catch you and turn you in.
Not a good way to start your college career as a liar and a cheat. So you don’t even care that this happened all you care about is whether or not it’s going to damage your record. You have a whole lot of problems that you need to sort out. The least of which is worrying if it’s going to look badly!
If your chemistry teacher “tells the office”, then he is not “letting it slide” and it will appear on your record.
Aside from the cheating issue and the fact that you are not inclined to claim responsibility, your command of English grammar will be problematic for Ivy League admissions. But this is probably a crappost anyway.
