During the last freaking week at school. Anyway, the RAs wrote me up, because I was passed out in the hall...so they didn't see anybody who I was drinking with. I have a meeting with the dorm hall director, and while I want to be honest, I know he's going to ask me who I was drinking with...
Well, the people I was drinking with are already on their last straw, so if I do mention their names...their college career would be out. SO, in your experience....what is the best route to take?

snitches get stitches yo

Say you’re a loser who drinks alone.

holy freaking crap lois what a crisis

remember: “everything is gonna be alright” - bob marly (look him up on itunes yo its totally chill)

another bob marly song: “i was drinking with my friends from high school who don’t go to school here”

just say that you do not feel right telling on other people.

yea, that’s fine, i could do that, but then I don’t want him to slap me with 10 hours of community service, probation, and potential suspension

Dont mention the other people. I was essentially coerced into doing the same, and had my life threatened and transferred shortly after.

I once had someone who I thought was my best friend rat me out. I didn’t do anything dangerous, but I still got in a lot of trouble. I stopped speaking to the friend shortly after. It was the most painful life experience and betrayal I"ve ever had.

It’s not a betrayal if he is asked directly.

Seems like a catch-22.
Are these people your friends, or just random people?

If they’re your friends, you probably shouldn’t mention them, especially if it results in being removed from the school.
However, if they’re your friends, they shouldn’t let you take the fall alone.

Is he threatening worse punishment if you don’t give names?

“I dont recall” If it can work for politicians and CEOs it can work for you.

Why didn’t your friends get you into your room and made sure you were alright? If you were to the point of passing out somebody should have been on babysitting duty.

He’ll most likely slap you with probation (and whatever other mandates they have for drinking) either way. If you feel confident enough say you were drinking alone or were invited to a random house party and you don’t remember much else besides somebody being nice enough to load you in their car and drop you off.

Your friends, however, should wake up and smell the coffee. They are treading on thin ice.

That’s a good point. If you were passed out, you could use the “I don’t remember” line. It certainly would be believable in your position.

You just have to weigh whether you want to give names or keep quiet.

Baelor, my friend told without anyone in authority asking her to. She initiated the telling.

And for the OP, I say, claim you don’t remember. Or say it was people you just met and forgot their names. If you say you know but you won’t tell, you’ll probably get in more trouble.

Say you were at a party, drank way too much there, and had to be helped back to your dorm by some random good samaritans.

Don’t be a snitch. Say you blacked out and you don’t remember anything from the night, that’s perfectly reasonable.

I would just say you were drunk and don’t really remember. Or say it was some random people that you met. If it was your first time, it probably won’t be a huge deal.

If you have any enemies now’s a good time to let them take the fall.

…Don’t give names unless you want to be known as a snitch for the remainder of your stay.

slip the RA some benjamins. Money makes the world go round and round.

Or plant some weed and tell the cops he’s dealing, more permament solution.
