CBHP will be renamed (finally!)

[QUOTE=""]
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — In celebration of its 50th anniversary and in honor of its longtime director who was formerly a student in its inaugural class, The University of Alabama’s Computer-Based Honors Program will be renamed the Catherine J. Randall Research Scholars Program.

Recommended by UA President Stuart R. Bell and approved today by the Board of Trustees, the name change will take place in 2018 in commemoration of this milestone anniversary.

The new name is certainly more descriptive of what CBH is than Computer Based Honors Program. My daughter’s experience was that many people at UA and most people outside of UA didn’t know what CBH was, anyway (she always had to explain it at interviews because no one had heard of it), so I doubt the name change will have much of a negative impact on recognition.

1967: it was probably a very unusual name/thing way back then, too, as computers were the size of a dining room and data processing was with punch cards. :wink:
