oops, apologies to Kyle. Thanks.

I was in Little Shop with Junior Mendez(from FSU) last year, he is truly extraordinary. What an awesome opportunity, I hope they do this every year!

does anyone else find it odd that the ten finalist are from 5 colleges?

American Idol question - because I'm curious! Katharine McPhee is beautiful and talented, and I can't get through to vote for her because the lines are busy!

Did she leave BoCo on her own, or did she get cut? (If she was cut, I'll bet they are sorry now.) I don't want to spread rumors, as I have no idea on this, but there has been discussion about "cut" schools, and I think BoCo may be one of them.

chrisnoo, they were the only five colleges involved so not that odd. :)

ahhhh

a little unfair to the rest of the bfa'ers...

but o well. i dont think we want to be known as the kids from "my broadway debut" anyways...

Here's a link to the CBS website, featuring the "My Broadway Debut" segment. You can see photos and a little blurb about all of the contestants here: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/05/24/earlyshow/main1650962.shtml?CMP=ILC-SearchStories
Remember, the MT students compete next week.

thanks dancersmom for that link..great video on the website..does the early start at 8 am Eastern time?

Looking forward to seeing this next week!

chrisnoo, it's not really 'unfair'. Several schools were approached about participating in this but many declined.

I have been told that the Early Show starts at 7:00 and runs until 9:00. In my area, the CBS affiliate airs local news from 7:00 until 8:00. I've learned that the same thing is done in Tallahassee, where my D attends FSU. I'm hoping that the "My Broadway Debut" segment airs after 8:00 A.M.. Otherwise, I will have to hope that CBS does a webcast.

i did a show with brianna in middle school. wow! it's amazing to see that she's doing this. She was great then so I can't wait to see how she's grown. She's a really sweet girl too. Good for her! I'll be voting for her!

I just got off the phone with Cortney Wolfson. She just flat out nailed her performance this morning. American Idols are just no contest compaired to these soon to be giants :-> Her whirlwind run to New York City was a blast. She went to four Broadway shows while in town and told me she has been so busy that she hasn't had time to stop to eat for 30 hours. Whew!

I mentioned to Cortney that there was activity on College Confidential this morning about the CBS Broadway contest. She sends her best to you and tells me she has monitored this site before [after the AJM pagent]. Be sure to log on to CBS to vote - and tell others the contestants need you participation

Congrats Cortney's Dad. She performed wonderfully, looked so comfortable, and certainly did her school and family proud. A nice nod from the Broadway/Idol guest as well. A fun morning (though I was up way to early in an effort not to miss the performance). BTW, she really does sing with her eyes . . . beautiful.

Can anyone tell us what segment the students appear in? or do we have to watch all two hours? ;-)

It started today at around 8:30.

it started at 8:40, i'm mad- why was it so short? oh well...

So why don't we have an informal "vote" for CBS early show? I know some of you know some of the performers, and I wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I'd give my vote so far (didn't see today's show yet; have it taped), but don't know if it's a good idea! Anyone think it would be fun to see if our votes match with the final tally?

I watched the performances today and was wondering what happened with Katherine's peice. It seemed to just stop for awhile. I haven't seen the show (Wedding Singer) so I'm wondering if she forgot the lyrics, or was there supposed to be a pause, or someone else singing in that timeframe. It was weird, but I thought she did well. Love that red hair.

The guys just aren't getting me in this competition so far. I missed Tuesdays show (and tape didn't record). But the guys aren't wow-ing me. Great voices, but they just seem to stand in front of the mic and smile.

I saw it this morning, too. Does anybody know what year in school the guy was? He sounded pretty good, but he kept majorly thrusting his chin when he sang which I've always been taught is bad technique. I'm also not familiar with "The Wedding Singer" and was wondering if the girl drew a blank on the lyrics. Maybe I'll get up early enough to see it tomorrow.

Just watched today's performances on tape tonight and the girl definitely forgot the lyrics.
