CB's Practice PSAT 08

64 CR
67 M
62 W

Weird…i do better on SAT for math and writing, but reading i went up
1 omit in math is a 76…crazy

Where do you guys get the raw score to scaled score conversion chart? Could someone do mines for me?

Math - 0 wrong, so 38
Reading- 2 wrong, so 45.5
Writing - 4 wrong, so 34

^^^^ The conversion table is on the last page of the practice test booklet.

M 38 –> 80
CR 4.5 –> 46 –> 78
W 34 –> 69

Total 227

We got the same score!!!

I’m pretty happy then. That’s well above the cutoff =]

Idk…CR just doesnt seem that hard for me… I’m the kind of person who reads a lot of books so i dont find the passages that bad or the vocab that hard… i guess im lucky :stuck_out_tongue: Reading a lot of long, boring literature can make u better at CR, since its similar to a lot of passages. Also, i dont do it but i think roots and straight up memorizing vocab words helps some people. For Writing, what i do is first read the sentence, and listen for anything that is just wrong. If i dont find anything, i look at each underlined parts and think about what could be wrong with it (if it has a verb, i look at Subject Verb agreement, whether its idiomatic, tense, etc.) And sometimes, cutting out superfluous clauses is useful in find the error. And remember that in improving sentences, that you dont just want correct grammar. You want it to be concise, and not sound awkward.

I thought the writing was hard. I got 5 wrong.

so i took another psat practice test (from PR.) Now the librarian kept interrupting me so i messed up on Math but i am SURE i could have gotten an 80 again. Writing, again, the librarian kept talking loudly in the background.. really annoying.. i misbubbled 2 answers.. but had i bubbled those correctly (its ridiculous, i had em marked correctly in my booklet), i got a 70. Reading 630 again… great.. got a 213… i just need that reading to go up to a 70 or that writing to go up to a 80 to get nmsf.

KeepRolling, does PR have a PSAT book? Or did you take the PSAT test from PR’s SAT book? I know they have 1 PSAT in their SAT prep books.

CR: 74
M: 73
W: 75
222
I don’t know about you guys but I’m pumped as hell to be above the cutoff in my state. All the pressure’s gone now.

Actually never mind I’m worried about choking. I don’t know what I would do if I choked, I made the cutoff as a sophmore too.

78 in CR
65 in M
66 in W

Total: 209

I think I missed a few of those math ones because I’m still learning geometry this year, and I made a couple of stupid mistakes on writing. I kinda rushed through it, maybe I could’ve scored a couple pts higher had I focused the whole time.

I’m a sophomore by the way.

72 in CR
70 in M
69 in W

Total: 211

Pretty good for being a sophomore at the beginning of the year, if I do say so myself. BUT, I doubt this will be reflective of the actual scores on the PSAT. >.<

Amazingly I missed 11 in CR, yet it’s my top score. o_O

um well, the PSAT practice is in the 11 SAT book by PR.

KeepRolling, ok I know what test you’re talking about. I took that in late July/early Aug (one of the first psat tests I took in the summer) and I think I was around 200 or something ..

It seems pretty accurate. Ugh i hate this, i REALLY want an 80 in math and writing. Reading i know im hopeless.

I just took Kaplan’s psat on their software and I got a 187 total. Are their tests accurate, because I dropped almost 15 points from my cb psat which i took like 2 days ago. Do you think it’s hopeless for me to get over 215 on the psat this wed.?

Everything that Kaplan does is crap, you’re better off not studying if Kaplan is the only resource you have.

argh i did bad on this one..vocab on this one was hard for me.. i got a 1910 =[

i scored a 53 on the CR!

i need some help…

what strategy do u guys use on the CR? Do u read the passages first ( what I do) and then jump to questions, alternate betw. passages and questions, or something else???

How do u space out your time? I seem to be running out of time.
