Hey guys! I applied from CIEE and I am really hoping to spend my senior year on the exchange. I’ve been pretty obsessed with Duolingo recently, and I decided to make a club for cbyx hopefuls. If you want to join, the code is 8CWPWG. It might be a good tool for motivation. Good luck to everyone!
Hi kippydog. I tried to join your duolingo group but the code isn’t working. Any tips? Also if someone could add me to the Facebook group that would be awesome! My name is Kathleen Carroll
Hi! I’m Max from Boston and I’m applying through AFS. Who else is from the area?
What year of high school did you apply?
I’m AFS in Maryland. My interview is supposed to be on the 27th! The duolingo code didn’t work for me either.
Hello!! I am applying though the ASSE region and I just got notified a couple of days ago that im a Semi-Finalist.(Which is so cool!!!) I was wondering if someone could add me to the facebook group? My name is Madeleine Cunningham Thank You!!!
Hiya! I applied to CIEE (I’m in FL) my junior year and am anxiously awaiting semi finalist results. I don’t have any social media, but I created a Duolingo club for anyone who wants to join. Code: HBKRRZ
Hello everybody! My name is Gracie Closson, and I am a sophomore. Last year I applied through ASSE and was selected as an alternate. If any of you have any questions regarding the interview process, if you are chosen as a semi finalist, I will try to help! Good luck to all of you!
Hi Gracie! I’m Ella Hewett and I just discovered this thread! I just have one question for you that I can think of, and hopefully you can answer it! If not that’s okay. Do you know if everyone receives an email or phone call or letter even if they don’t get in? Just a sort of courtesy letter?
I’m from the FLAG region which apparently doesn’t get very many applicants, so fingers crossed!
@Ellahewett Yes, from what I’ve heard, they’ll get back to you with an email telling you if you didn’t get in. They don’t just leave you with no information!
@Ellahewett I received a phone call when I made aware that I was selected as an alternate and I also received an email. I was told around 3-4 weeks following my interview. If you have any other questions, I’m here! Again, best of luck to all of you!
Also just a heads up to all semifinalists, from each interview they only take one (two at most) students from each location of interviews. At my interview there were about 15 of us for ASSE. Each region is extremely competitive, some regions just have more people applying than others!
@germaniscool @TheSagaofElison Thank you so much! The FLAG application was due last Tuesday, so I still have such a long time to wait until I find out if I make it to an interview…
@germaniscool not necessarily true, from my interview location 7 of us where picked. 5 out of 9 from the morning group, and 2 out of maybe 9 from the afternoon group.
and AFS is one of the most competitive regions

Hey everyone! I know I’m a little late. My name is Alexis and I’m an applicant from the CIEE region. I created the CBYX 2018-2019 facebook group & group chat, and I would love it if more of you joined!! It doesn’t matter what region you’re applying from, we can all freak out about the program together ((:
Hey yall,
I just got my reply from CIEE and I was not accepted. Check your inboxes if you’re from CIEE! Congratulations in advance for all semi-finalists and finalists.
Is anyone here from FLAG? We’re supposed to find out if we made it to the interview portion sometime this month, and I’m not sure if it’s at the beginning or end of February…
