My interview was pretty intense, there were 6 people interviewing me and the majority weren’t smiling.
Sounds like an intimidating situation with 6 interviewers. I bet you did fine. What region are you in?
@Thxsruknfr -how was your interview?
I think it went well, I don’t really know because now I’m second guessing everything I said? it was pretty intimidating because we had 6 interviewers as well and then a group interview and everyone seemed incredibly qualified.
Lol everyone had amazing reasons for going to Germany and I told my interview for one of my reasons that I wanted to try the extensive variety of haribo candy in Germany…
@formerfirstgen did yours go well?
@formerfirstgen I am northeast/AFS. It was pretty bad, one girl was teary eyed after her interview, I don’t know if it’s just my region that does it this way. I got the vibe some of the interviewers weren’t very keen on me.
I am in the ASSE region. Interview date is on the 16th. The email said 6 interviewers and then a group interview. The set up seems hard.
Well that sucks to hear, sounds pretty stressful.
I had my interview with YFU back at the beginning of January… My interviewer said I had a strong chance which was really nice. Good luck to all of you in the more competitive regions
@cbears12121 How was your interview set up? And congratulations! on the positive feedback. Would you be so kind as to share about the questions that they asked?
Does anyone know if there are any other chats we might benefit from being in?
CYBX for 2019-2020 applicants on Facebook. There are 80 members.
I talked with a current CBYX student. She said to be ready to say why you want to be a part of CBYX. And about what conflicts or challenges you anticipate and how you would handle them.
Hello! This is my first post on CC so here goes. I’m in the AFS region (northeast), and I had my interview last Saturday. It was with three people and they asked me questions that were expected, but some were just out of the blue. I think it went okay, but maybe I messed up somewhere but idk I’m just stressing!
Ya, my questions were not what I expected. Ever told me to prepare for hypotheticals, but I received none. For example, I was asked what my favorite piece of literature was and why. At least for me, my interview was more getting to know me.
Also, for everyone in AFS or any other region who receives feedback in March, good luck! It’s coming up soon!
When are results supposed to typically come out?
It really depends on the region. I know AFS usually hears back mid to late March, and I think ASSE hears back before April 1st. I don’t know about the other regions, but if you google CBYX/(your program) blogs, you can usually find out when acceptances are usually released. Good luck!
So around the March/April time period I’m pretty sure all programs release acceptances
Sorry for replying so late. My interviewer called me and we set up a time and we met at Starbucks and it went from there. A lot of the questions were kinda based on the short essays if I remember correctly. @formerfirstgen
