ok, So I have a 3.5 overall GPA and I'm on track to complete all the required courses to transfer to UC Santa Cruz. I go to De Anza College in Cupertino California and In Winter 2013 quarter I took math 41, a pre calc class and failed it with "F" and I retook it summer 2013 but I took it for pass or no pass because my teacher and counselor said that if I wasn't confident that I was going to get an A or B+, then I should take it for pass or no pass since it's a pre req for calc and I'm not going to advance calculus because I decided to do stats, finite math and business calc ( a different route). and my GPA for my DEANZA transcript went from 3.1 to a 3.53 after summer quarter and now it's fall 2013 quarter and I'm filling out my TAG application and as I'm entering my grades, I entered then pass or no pass for pre calc and they didn't replace my "F' like Deanza transcript did and according to their GPA calculator I have a 3.14 overall, what do you guys think I should do? would I be fine? or what???

On the Transfer Admission Planner, did you indicate that Pre-Calc you took this summer was supposed to replace the other one? In the section where you enter a specific course, it asks if this course is being used to replace “X” class. You may have done that already, but just thought I’d throw that out there.

The option isn’t there when I put pass or no pass

Personally, I would enter my courses/grades exactly as they appear on my transcript. If the original F does not appear on your De Anza transcript, then just put the summer course grade.

However, I would also mention that that class grade of P (Pass) replaced an original F grade in the “other comments” section of the TAG. Near the end of the TAG application, you are offered a field to add anything to your TAG you feel the UC should know. This would be a good time to mention that if you could not otherwise indicate it on your course listings.

If there is a fudge in the way you did it, then the good thing is that De Anza will have the opportunity to review your TAG before it is sent to UCSC, but to allow them the opportunity to do so, you need to submit your TAG ASAP. They can’t review it like on the 29th since it is due to UCSC by the 30th. Try to give them a few days here and they can tell you if something looks amiss. When they review your TAG, De Anza will actually compare your transcript with what you entered to check for accuracy and will be able to read the “extra comments” section. So if they feel you should change things up before the deadline, then they will send you a message (both on the TAG and through email) to let you know what to change and RESUBMIT your TAG.

Did you take a TAG workshop? They explained all of this there. I took one over the summer at De Anza and there was a lot of good information. They walk you through the process of filling out your TAG, explain all of the requirements by whihc UC you are interested in, and can answer some very specific questions. it might be to late to participate in one now that the TAG deadline is just a few days away and they might be busy reviewing submitted TAGs though. I am also applying for TAG to UCSC.

Best of luck!

thank you!!! umm I missed the workshop because I was overseas, what do you recommend writing in the comment section??
