i was just wondering if people could clear the air for me. i see tons of "cc" and "ccc" and it confuses me. i know CC can be community college or college confidential. and i'm under the assumption that over 70% of the people on this transfer student main thread are interested in California Community Colleges, hence the CCC. i'd really just like to know what people are referring to when they say "cc" or "ccc". that's all.

by the way...are there ANY other community college students who DON'T go to school in california?

well, you answered your own question. But I go to Nassau Community College which is in Long Island, NY. There are some people on here who go to community colleges not in cali. Most people on here talk about the cali community colleges because they have some kind of transfer hook ups with University of California at Berkley, Los Angeles, Irvine, Riverside, Santa Barbera, and whereever the hell else there is a UC. But I know nothing about the UC system, nor do I care to, because they are mad biased against people from East Coast schools, or any schools outside of Cali.

i'm right there with you. i'm at a community college in florida, and hearing about cali all the time is kind of driving me nuts. but here we have transfer hookups with univerisities. if you get your AA you are automatically accepted into any state school.

It's easy to avoid the CCC/UC posts if you'd like (most are labeled as such) and we can do the same if we are uninterested or have nothing to share about other schools.

Hm...I try to say CCC whenever I am referring to CA community colleges in particular. I'll think about that. It's still easy to determine when we are talking about the California system though.

allena, you are correct in that many NY CCs have transfer hook ups with the Suny System schools, but Suny schools are not the same caliber as UC schools. Like let's say the two "best name" sunys are Binghamton and Stony Brook. Those are hardly a match for the two best UCs Los Angeles and Berkley. That's probably why transfer agreements with SUNYs are not as big a deal as they are with UCs.

Gabe, I never meant to insult anyone who is going from CCC to UC. But Polkadot is right, there are soo many threads titled cc and it ends up being about transferring to UC from a CCC.

Maybe the "CCC" students need their own forum within College Confidential...? :)

I never type "CC" to refer to College Confidential. In fact, I rarely mention College Confidential in any way, but when I do, I'll type the whole name out.

I go to CC in florida and this forum is flooded with CCC posts. Oh and I think if you get an AA degree you can automatically go to any public school in the country.

I go to BCC I remember in high school the GC said that if you get an AA you automatically get into any public school in the country im not sure if thats true or not but thats what she said

lol the majority of people on here also talk about UC schools...and the majority of them talk about UCLA.. does that mean we need sub and even sub sub cateogriazation sp? lol

and to the idea about an FAQ.... thats just stupid. Its (hopefully) different people each year applying as transfers who utilize this board.... It doesnt make sense... if you are still posting on these boards after your transfer one would assume you are here to offer your advice... how can advice be given if this was meerely a FAQ, or wait this wouldnt be a discussion board it would be a FAQ

Ijflexi, having a FAQ doesn't mean we cant have a discussion board. A lot of people could receive quick answers, and we could save discussion time for more important, or new questions, if we had a FAQ.
