I plan to take classes at my local CC as I will be attending Davis in the fall. I know the units will carry over but will the letter grade affect my GPA at the university? Will the grade me on my transcript? Thanks!

Btw I plan to take the class that for Expository Writing 1. But it says: GE credit: Wrt (cannot be used to satisfy a college or university composition requirement and GE writing experience simultaneously). What does this exactly mean?

No, the letter grades from courses you take over summer at your CC will not affect your GPA at UC Davis. Your GPA at UC Davis starts when you take UC Davis courses. I took summer courses at my CC before I transferred to UC Davis, but those courses weren’t factored into my UCD GPA.

As for your second question, the composition requirement and the writing experience are two different GE subject areas (despite appearing like they’re the same thing). You can only satisfy one or the other, not both.

Even if you take them in future summers, they will appear on your transcript with only the units transferred, no class title or grade. They will not help or hurt your UCD GPA at all. The units WILL count towards an earlier registration time for future quarters though, just like any AP credits you have.
