CC classes taken in HIGHSCHOOL > LOW GPA issues

I'm in my first year at a CC... in the honors program.

Last quarter, I got a 3.67 in 14 units (i don't believe i deserved the B so I'm going to talk it over with the dean.. long story but might be 4.0). I took honors engl1a; got an A.

This quarter, I'm taking 19 units and I'm pretty certain I'll be at a 3.79. Honors english 1b: my only B.

BUT... my GPA is currently a 3.0 on the way to a 3.3 due to a C average from classes taken when i was 13-16 years old (damn parents).

Will colleges (esp. UC's.. esp. Cal & UCLA) take into consideration the fact that those grades are from my High School years??

yea they probably will....

yeah, and you can tell them on the application as well. There's a spot where you can list any extra information you want them to know.

This happened to me, too. Senior year I thought I'd be really cool and take classes at the CC. I ended up taking 12 units total that year, but got Bs in two of the classes. I only have one other B from my post-graduation coursework, but these two B's definitely bring down my GPA. I mentioned it in my application, and i really hope that they take it into consideration, but I think its hard to know for sure.

A lot of colleges won't accept CC work taken during HS. Don't know about UC. I took two classes my senior year but some of the colleges I've looked into make a point of saying, on their website, that they won't give credit for them.

The UC's will consider all grades while in high school, but they will also consider grade trends so hopefully it will work out for you.
