CC courses

Im filing my application to a community college, and I was wondering if I should mention the two courses that I took at a community college while in high school.

i took algebra 1 and got a B the summer after freshman year.

and i took chemistry and got a C the summer after sophmore year.

These grades suck, and I rather not have them haunt my GPA in community college, but if write them down, I may have to deal with them bringing me down.

There is a section on the application that asks to write down any CC courses I've taken, so its probably smarter to write it down then to risk them finding out on their own, especially since these courses are on my high school transcript anyway right?

a)shouldn't

b)should write it down.

what do you guys think...?

well, high school transcripts are irrelevant at CC. If those courses you took were at a different CC, then I would leave it blank. Take your diagnostic/placement exams and be on your merry way.

thanks...thats what i was thinking, but then i was scared that somehow my cc will find out about the other 2 cc schools i took courses at.....

oh btw- I was in the same situation as you when I attended Santa Monica CC. CC credit I earned in high school was only applicable to my HS GPA, so I never reported it. That would've been incredibly frustrating, as my excitement in going to CC stemmed from having a "fresh start."

yea exactly. unfortunately my college chemistry course counts towards my college gpa too...i hate not having a fresh new start. i'm so tempted to leave out this whole chemistry course/grade thing...i'm just scared they'll find out once i begin applying to UCs, especially since this course is on my high school transcript. wouldn't they notice?

I am in about the same dilemma right now. I forgot to report on my application for transfer the grades recieved from college courses in hs. Most colleges dont require your hs transcripts unless you are transfering w/ less than 60 units. But the college im transfering into (UCD) does and i am hoping that they dont notice them on the transcript! Ill let u know what happens and hopefully u can get by too without reporting them cuz it totally sucks when you want your "fresh start" from high school!!!

thanks a lot natalie!

PLEASE do tell me how it goes for you...it would be very helpful! and good luck! hopefully they wont notice yours...

so the UCs ALL require high school transcripts?

i think you have to send them in when after you send in your SIR. better not to lie about your courses.

You'll have to send in your highschool transcript to the UCs when you transfer. Go ahead and report them. Your algebra 1 grade will not effect your transfer gpa when it comes to application time because it isn't transferable. Do not worry about them C in chemistry. As long as you show progression it will not hurt you much. I had two C's my first year a ccc, but finished strong with a 3.92. Your C will not haunt you.

alright thanks willdo (and everyone else for that matter)

ditto, I would put them down. The schools you apply to will probably understand. I had a 3.0 my first year of college with several C's, but had an upward grade trend and a 4.0 after that. Got accepted to UC berkeley.

yeah, i dont want them to have this misconception of me being a sneaky/dishonest student if they were to find out later on..thanks for advice.

wildebeest whats ur planned major?

I toyed with not reporting my first year since it was out state, but I am glad I didn't now.

My intended major is English.
