CC discussed in today's Chronicle of Higher Education

The article talks of how we use abbreviations, discuss 'prestigue' vs 'value', share anxieties and impressions of colleges.

I'm sorry, can't seem to copy the link

“a wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

Wow, who knew? That somehow escaped me all these year’s I’ve been exchanging information on CC. Here’s my question … do I have to chose either “scum” or “villainy” or can I have both?

I suppose one’s experience on CC is dependent upon the threads in which he lingers. I, for one, have learned a lot from the generous posters who have gone before.

They didn’t mention the great stock tips here.

“a wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

Well, in that case, we may as well at least have the music for it.

^ Where’s the “Like” button?

Wow, a wretched hive of scum and villainy- I’ve never been complemented so much in my life!

There’s a thread on this topic in Community and Forum Issues: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/1499093-cc-profiled-chronicle-higher-ed.html

Exactly, glido. IMHO, anyone who frequents the chance me forum or any of the others frequented by HS students is doomed to have a negative experience.

What we don’t get to call Pizzagirl a snowflake?!

I actually liked the article… but I’ll admit to not being sure if I’m scum or villainy. When do we have to choose by? Is it today?

I would not have known how to get rid of our chipmunks if not for cc. However, they are back. I deem them (the chipmunks) scum.

Yes, you have to get that deposit in by today, creekland.

I’m going to take a gap year, though. If we can’t call pizzagirl a snowflake, I think I might have some philosophical differences with this hive. Just sayin’

I do not see PG as a snowflake. That image engenders puppydogs and lollypops. I see her as more of a bulldog (and thats a compliment!)

Yeah, I think she’s a wildkit, though, for life.

A wildkit? Can that get rid of my chipmunks?

Even my three golden retrievers can’t get rid of the chipmunks. they are a pestilence of villainy and scum, from what I hear.

Our cats keep the chipmunks out of our area. Each year a new family arrives - and doesn’t last long. One has to wonder if they ever consider WHY the territory isn’t already taken. Our cats consider them a seasonal delight. Little do they know that killing chipmunks in PA is against the law (nor did I know until youngest took his Wildlife and Natural Resources class this year).

I believe I have a year to choose between scum and villainy (rather than today being the deadline). After all, my guy will be a senior in high school this fall - not now. I’ll just have to ramp up the distress over the decision… or start a few threads about it.

you could start a chance me thread.
