I would like a leadership position in the villany and scum club. Will look good on the resume. Besides, those terms are polite compared to what is said about CC in the urban dictionary. CC gets TWO listings there now. Wow. We have arrived.

But then I’d have to list my stats and financial info. I’m not quite ready to share yet… My kids might be willing to share the info. Perhaps that’s a situation where they’ll need to start the thread for me.

Interesting article…overstated in some ways. I learned something–I thought Dean J was a dude, for example. I don’t find it too surprising that high school guidance counselors don’t like CC, though.

Redundant. There’s already a law school board.

“Chance me for villainy and scum.”

Will you chance me back??? It’s been my lifelong DREAM, so Pl-e-e-e-se!!!

I am really sad that writer did not highlight 2 of our favorite students; Jhonny Inc and violadad’s adopted half Polynesian/half Inuit D from the meta thread.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/501191-meta-thread-save-us-all-time.html?highlight=meta+thread

By the way, what college did they decide to attend?

High school Guidance Counselors don’t care for CC? You don’t say!!! Maybe they’re annoyed by the ‘worst college names,’ ‘acne remedies,’ and ‘help, parents won’t pay!’ threads.

SomeOldGuy,
you crack me up.

Since the hurricane in 2005, my house was overrun with tree squirrels. I stepped on one in my bedroom. I found a new pest control man, who made daily visits to set new traps. Squirrels do not look cute to me anymore.

If not for CC, I wouldn’t know what to look for in a dishwasher or W/D. And we have real fashionistas here!

That writer has a narrow view of the CC community.

I don’t think GCs are annoyed by threads. I think they’re annoyed by students who say, “I read on College Confidential that two reaches aren’t enough for the most selective schools,” or “I read on College Confidential that I should take the SAT IIs right after the relevant course,” etc.

I think the guidance counselors are just jealous of our wealth of knowledge;).

Well, the hive mind has more knowledge than any one GC.

^ Yes, this.

Yes, and we are prone to things like, “loans are not financial AID!” I’m sure this is a sinister point of view, as well.

^ And “applying to three Ivys does not triple your chances of getting into one.”

^ And “it does you no good to get accepted to your dream college if you can’t afford to attend.”

While I have found a lot of helpful information on College Confidential, I agree that the chance threads are not of any help to anyone. How can anyone who responds know the circumstances and character of the student requesting the chance, and moreover, how can anyone know who the student is actually competing against for admission?

Part of the legend. Guess I owe Nova for that at least.

Admit guys, some of you are cray cray.

Niquii-
We are a fun loving bunch. Better to be a bit tetched here than with our kids, dontcha think?

“Admit guys, some of you are cray cray.”

Whew, that was close. (I thought it said “the sum of you is cray cray.”)
