CC EA Stats

The “one word only” thread seems to have the biggest list of EA decisions. I counted it up, so we can see how we compare to the national average.

Accepted: 26/84 = 31.0%
Deferred: 57/84 = 67.9%
Rejected: 1/84 = 1.2%

Overall data:
Accepted: 885/4140 = 21.4%
Deferred: 3120/4140 = 75.4%
Rejected: 135/4140 = 3.2%

So I guess being a CC member makes one 50% more likely to be accepted, 75% less likely to be rejected.

Being a CC member does not guarantee that....!

It implies that there's a 50% more chance of an acceptee being on CC.

i doubt it. cuz if u look at the thread, look how many ppl on that list have single-digit posts. they're the lurkers that only posted cuz they got in. if they got deferred / rejected, do u think a lurker would post? the only reason CC has good numbers is cuz the acceptances are CC-regulars + CC-lurkers. whereas defer / rejected is just CC-regular, with the rare CC-lurker.

Ariesdrgn makes a good point, i've been lurking without joining for a while now and i've joined because i got deferred after having zero outside hel on my initial application and now think the support network of this place might give me the advice i need to make it that extra step to acceptance.
but most lurkers would not post if they were deferred or rejected, no need to bring extra attention to an already dissappointing decision.

The reason for the higher precentage of admission is not due to lurkers as much as it is to the CC community being more enthusiastic and more of "high school players" that are concerned with being accepted. The people on this forum obviosly are more concerned with college admission than most others, and therefore put togther more impressive (though be it shallow) resumes.

this year than to Yale. 3091 for Yale according to the Yale section, and over 4000 for Harvard.

Just wanted to say that my comment about having a CC user name increasing your chances was tongue in cheek. I definitely agree with your analysis about why CC users have a higher chance of acceptance (if they even do have one, since decisions are self-reported).
