Is there a change color function or something? I mean I like the changes but I really can’t handle the “whiteness”.
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but could you please re-add locations and profile information (e.g. “about me” in the old format)? Thanks.
Corey, good news (for a change). I was able to get into the forum via Safari on my iMac. Clicking the yellow “College Discussion” link at the top of the home page takes me only to the “Safari can’t open …” page.
However, if I click the “Forum Home” link (top of left sidebar), I get right in. I have no idea why that works, but it does. My iPad is still screwed up, but Roger has already noted that as an issue for mobile platforms.
Thanks, Corey. Glad this issue is solved, at least from my point of view.
Dave
how do you get the thread titiles???
Under “Latest Posts,” why do the pinned threads show up first?
when I go to latest posts, there are not actual titles. I have to type the title of the thread (if I remember it exactly) into the search box up at the top right screen and then scroll down to find it.
Drmom, someone else reported the same issue. No titles. It was an issue with THEIR computer. Can you try a different computer, and browser? That got the thread titles for the other person.
aaaahaaaa!!! that worked!! thank you thumper
I had this problem with Firefox.
You need to clear all the collegeconfidential cookies.
Thank you notrichenough!
It’s odd, romanigypsyeyes, I checked the site from my phone and this time got the full web version. Didn’t change anything. We’ll be working on that.
I’m getting the “mobile” version. It’s just clunky, painful on the eyes, and all around not something I want to use- and I do just about everything from my phone and rarely have an issue with sites.
When I try to go to pre- med topics I get “page not found”
Greetings, Roger. I know its a big job to migrate such a massive site and I commend your efforts which have netted a fairly smooth transition.
One feature you might consider tweaking:
In notifications, you can subscribe to email updates on a thread. But it sends an email for EACH POST, which for me meant wading through 100 or more from two threads
Apart from causing an unnecessary amount of mail for your server and mine, it also it think is counter to the way people formerly used a subscription feature.
For example, in my case, I used the thread update emails sent overnight to conveniently link to my last place in a thread and to “read in.”
Is there any way to tweak the notification feature – since its still batching and not notifying in real time – to send a single “addition to this thread” email instead on an email for each comment?
That would be a welcome improvement!
Thanks and cheers!
I actually kind of miss that old version…Things were compact, direct and clear, and the background color was just pleasing…white is tiring. Also, it’s hard now to focus on [who] who posts…With that specially & exclusively designed small font and the big picture above it…
Well I’m just not such a fan of such.
SAme here…this was a draft. Sorry you have to see that I can’t delete drafts!
Maybe I am just missing it, but is there some way to mark all as read? I don’t see the option anywhere.
The Wesleyan forum has been completely stripped of new threads and by that I mean, anything less than six years old! Looks like an older, orphaned forum got picked up during the switch to a new format.
The “one mail per response” has got to go.
On the old board you got one email per thread that was updated, until you had visited CC again.
Woke up this morning to a huge pile of emails, all from the same three or four threads.
If this can’t go back to the way it worked before, email notifications are now almost useless. I don’t want to have to clear 100 emails out of my inbox every morning.
ETA: At the very least, take the poster’s name out of the subject, so that gmail and other mailers can group them and reduce the clutter.
I apologize if this was already asked/noted (I only read the last page on this thread) but when I click on Latest Posts I get a few of the most recent (maybe 8-10) and then I get posts from days ago. Is there a way to get the actual latests posts? Thanks!
Update: I just realized there are a bunch of threads pinned to the top of the Latests Posts (way more than there used to be) and if I scroll all the way down I find the actual latest posts. So . . . IGNORE my question above. Thanks!
