Anyone else get a little blue box with a CC Guide Bot. What is that?
I discovered it when I went to the forum index page. And when I clicked on the symbol on the top left in the blue bar of the bot, it takes you to several pages of marketing info about the utility of the bot and how bots and automatic chats can cut down on the simple, repetitive questions to your agents, that reply.ai was acquired by something called Kustomer, etc. Just FYI.
And as for the bot, who is writing the script for the bot answers to college questions?
Ugh! Just when I thought things were moving in the right direction.
For context, the bot comes from [The College Fair app](https://thecollegefair.com/). Its focus is helping students sort through their college and career options. We’ve put it on a few pages on the site (particularly [the Schools pages](https://www.collegeconfidential.com/schools/)) and we’re looking at the data of how it’s being used on those pages. It needs some work before it’s ready for College Confidential because many of the requests have been for things like changing the email addresses and recovering passwords. In the context of this site, it doesn’t look like a bot for getting help with college.
At the moment, the responses are managed by one of our developers. There’s a fair degree of customization we can do, but at the moment it’s just copied over from the app. We’ve having some meetings about it this week. I’m not entirely familiar with what it has to offer, but I want to make sure it has value before bringing it over to the forums. One intriguing use might be to direct users to the appropriate forum or discussion thread.
When we have a better idea internally what to do with the bot, I’ll be sharing the plans. For the moment we’re leaving it on the pages it’s currently on.
