Is it true that Muslims believe that all people born, are born Muslim? If so, does that mean that someone who wants to practice Islam doesn’t have to convert?

I am not sure how this works with Judeo-Christian religions. I know in Christianity, they believe that everyone is born with original sin, even if they aren’t Christian. You only “become” Christian when you go through the sacraments though.

My religion doesn’t require conversion or anything of the sort. So it’s a different mindset for me.

According to my Islamic teacher, that’s how she puts it as well. Everyone is born a Muslim but it’s only when the child comes of age and becomes influenced by his parents ends up following another religion. That is also why we believe that if a baby…or a child passes away (s)he will automatically go to heaven!

So yes, you will need to convert if you’ve been following another religion. It’s quite simple actually–unlike other religions there’s no ceremony, party, celebration or initiation of any kind. For non-muslims:All you have to do if you want to convert is say the shahada–“There is no God but Allah & Mohammed is his messenger” [Laa illa illalah mohamadan rasullalah]. After you have said this genuinely you’re officially a muslim!!!

This is 100% false. A baby is completely innocent free of any kind of sins.

^^ So you’re reasoning for someone to convert to Islam is because its… easy?

Come on down to Islam world! We’ve got a new special on Conversion it literally takes 10 seconds to do it! We beat those other competitors to the ground (Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism).

Don’t worry though. Your religions are all equally amusing to me.

I’m actually confused because…at first i assumed that Eid would be on sept. 8th b/c it started on aug 11.

Then…i heard it might be on sept 10…then on the news and from my friends/cousins i heard that it might be on sept 11th b/c of some blimp on the calender!!! :/

I don’t really know if you’d know but is North Africa (e.g. Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, etc.) very similar to the Middle East (and East Africa?) in culture?

^ @jdorekelsey: hi! salam nice seeing a muslim on here mashallah.

yup, generally i’d say the culture is very similar. North Africans are middle easterners too. Only Somalia…out of the east african countries i’d say is more simialr to the middle eastern culture since it seems to be “arab-ized” and it also follows an islamic type of culture. (which is why i love to describe somali ppl as “arab wannabes” bahahhaa lmao…jk). I could explain in more detail later if you want…

3 more days! sept 10

again, everybody keep the questions rolling in!!! ask a muslim anything! :)
