lol cant wait for the money:D

^ LOL!!! same here except i rarely get money on eid…i got early eid money (20 bucks lol) yesterday from my sister since she left back to boston this morning…lmao.

but i ALWAYS get to go shopping + new clothes on eid though! i can’t wait to party it up this time yayy
hopefully i’ll get more money this year!

2 more days until Eid!!!

I can’t stand fasting during school hours anymore!

I want to have fun again, money and stuff!!!

ask a muslim anything! :D

If I am not mistaken, Ramadan ends when the crescent moon appears, correct? This is what my Astronomy professor told us yesterday.

^yup yup yup!!! it was confirmed today so it’s officially on sept 10th!! (in saudia!!) it goes accordingly to the moon cycle calender…

it sucks having to miss school on friday!! EID SHOULD BECOME A NATIONAL HOLIDAY. I’ll probably miss school on Friday anyway…i’ll go to the mosque then have fun :D

who’s missing school on friday?

ask a muslim anything

Hm, tomorrow is a recognized Jewish holiday, so I see no reason why certain major Muslim holidays should not be recognized. Can’t do that completely for us Catholics, though… I could give you a Saint holiday for every day of the year!

okay but you guys don’t have school during christmas! but that could just be because of winter break …same for hannukah :/

lol i will actually try to make it a recognized holiday. My friend told me in our district they were considering it. There’s another Eid later in the year though (Eid al-adha) but it’s not fair because in the past i dont get to do anything!–it changes every year.

Circulate a petition, make some copies, and send one to the district. Then take another copy and expand it before sending it to the state, then the federal level. Start an internet petition, call it something like “Equal Recognition of Religious Obligations”.

Maybe they don’t do it because there isn’t a large Muslim population in the US. We don’t recognize Hindi holidays, and other major religions. And right now isn’t a good time. There is way to much tension with Muslims. They are highly discriminated against and it won’t be recognized.

Muslim holidays are not recognized because being a Muslim in this country still carries a lot of stigma. Just like being Jewish in years past carried a certain stigma. The stigma will eventually subside and pass onto a new religious/ethnic group. Perhaps A.I robots in the future?!?!

Most Muslims are going to celebrate Eid on Friday the 10th.

But think… If racists had only Muslims to thank for extra days off work or school, they may come to be thankful that they are around! Building bridges, one lazy racist at a time.

I’m not a Muslim, but i’m always invited at my friend’s place here and I LOVEEEE the dinner. These Muslim people cook extremely well. Anyone here has ever tasted a dish called “Biryani”?

Yea, but don’t you think we have enough holidays. If we were to add every Christian, Jew, and Islamic holiday. Why bother going to work/school, everyday would be a vacation.

Just so you know, Biryani is a South Asian dish, which means it is not just inclusive to Muslims. I’m Indian and I typically have many muslim friends and I find it pretty easy to understand eachother’s religious devotions. Anyway, BIRYANI IS AWESOME!

@BillyMc, toxic93 & Romulus: But it wouldn’t hurt if I tried, no?
Maybe soon [inshhallah] i will try to take it to congress one day :)

^ schoolisfun is right for correcting PhoenixR…Biriyani is an south asian dish… We have pretty good food at our place too! Not only do i get to miss school tomorrow (on a friday yay)…i get $$$$$$$, good food, fun and stuff.

1 MORE day!!!

ask a muslim ANYTHING!!! keep the questions rolling in!!! We need more muslims on this thread…stop lurking!! bahahaha

We have a Muslim foreign exchange student at our school

Biryani is some gangsta ***** but that’s not a Muslim dish, that’s South Asian!

edit: jk i saw someone else correct you.

–

I’m not skipping school. Honestly, I can just do Muslim stuff after school, and I have a major test and two quizzes, so… yeah, no thanks
