Huh??? What do you mean?

I don't think JCostantinou is a legitimate contributor and I wouldn't believe anything he's written in his three posts so far.

Agreed ^^ or hes just insane.

Well for that matter, do we really believe that any people applied to over 20 schools???

I don't think it was that part of his comment that aroused suspicion...

My son applied to 8 schools. Seems like a pretty good number. In hindsight he probably would have applied to a couple of different ones, but the overall number was comfortable. He got in 3, waitlisted at 1, denied at 3 and is still waiting for one more decision.

What also might be interesting to add is the results and where you would have cut it off if applied to less. In other words, would you have missed getting into any or most all the schools if you hadn't upped the amount.

I applied to 14, and knowing what my options are now, would have applied to 9. I applied to at least 5 reaches and somehow got into all of them, which was absolutely unexpected, but there was really no way I could predict that would happen. As for the safeties I applied to, I would have applied to 3 out of the 5 I did apply to, but again there was no way I could predict what merit aid I would get from these institutions. I'm now looking at a list of 6 institutions to consider out of the 14--the other schools I've eliminated mostly based on insufficient aid, and the list may get smaller as financial packages start arriving. So I am glad that I applied to as many as I did (even though I obviously wish I hadn't applied to the safeties that didn't get me any scholarships, but again, there was no way I could have predicted what would happen).

i applied at 6, 3 UCs and 3 reaches, and no thin envelopes

I would have applied more, if I didn't get in at my early action school

Now looking back wouldn't have applied to 2 three of the schools that I did apply to. And I should have applied to atleast 4 other ones. (I actually applied to 11)

Hmm...I am almost embarrassed to say how many, but here goes...19. I hold the record for most college applications at my high school. I was so paranoid I wouldn't get into my top choices that I over-applied; most of my schools were safeties, the rest were all reaches. And I ended up getting in everywhere. So my problem wasn't 'damn, I got rejected everywhere. Now what?' but 'damn, I got in everywhere. Now what?!' The moral of this story: don't apply just to apply (like I did), have a bit more confidence in yourself than I had in myself.

I did the same exact thing jisssel. I applied to 20 schools and got into 19 and wait listed at one. Now I have no idea which one to choose.

I applied to 3 schools, no safeties. At some point I was convinced none would accept me, but as they were the only places I wanted to go, I figured community college first, then transferring, was an option.

I'm in college now; my roommate applied to 23 because she got scared when her early decision school deferred her.

well i havent applied to any colleges yet because I am still in 10th, but I plan to apply to about 7-8 colleges.

fourteen baby

15 or more? How do you have the energy for that? 4 were hell for me.

12 i think

dangg
for some of you people it must've cost a LOT!
20??? wow

me personally, i applied to 4 and got into all of em
i guess i shoulda taken my chances ..but oh well

I applied to 7 (3 safeties) and was accepted at all of them.

Applied to 8; got into 6. I would've probably applied to more looking back, but I'm still glad that everything worked out.
