CC questions

If I pass my AP tests in HS, can I use them at CC? and will Colleges accept that when I transfer?

Are there such things as "majors/minors" in CC's?

I want to take classes in Philosophy and languages such as Arabic and Classic languages, and then I want to transfer over to xxxxxxxxx college.

thanks.

You should be able to use your AP test scores for more advanced placement into CC classes (assuming you have at least a score of 3). AP test scores are treated differently, depending on the College. Some will give you credit, while most will instead use the scores to place you into a higher class. Some don’t really care about those scores and have you take similar courses over in their college.

Most CCs do not strictly have majors or minors, but they probably have created a ‘pathway’ toward specific majors. If you follow the pathway, you should be ready to take Junior-level courses in your major when you transfer.

As far as languages are concerned, my experience is that most colleges have you take their own placement exam to decide the entering level of your language skills.

^ My CC has specific majors, however they’re really generic. Most of the most popular majors are covered, though. I guess it just depends on the school.
