You were at Eastern States? Cool, our varsity guys were up there yesterday also...who won the boys race?

you guys end your season pretty late, the state meet in ohio is always the first week in nov. we only have distrcits/regionals before then. we also only do varisty/open races, no frosh/soph or jv (though open basically is jv).

Yeah, our state meet is first week of November too I think. I won't be there though because: a) I'm kinda slow and b) I have a really extreme stress fracture in my top part of hip bone/iliac crest part of pelvis. Being injured sucks:( I'm hoping I'll be ready for track though.

tell me about it. i have double stress fractures in my shins. and i'm a senior/captain. at least that explains why i was running 6 minutes slower than usual.

I was there yesterday!! Not a hot guy though, girl. I almost got my best time for a 2.5 which is, as sad as it is, 23:30.

We have this one in common if you are a junior/senior
11/12/05 Sat Varsity/JV City Champs VCP, BX

Are you from Townsend Harris by any chance?

< goes to Colonie, home of Kevin Treadway.

I'm on JV. Did fairly well at Manhattan this year, loved the opening.

actually, i didnt run in eastern states, only the varsity team did... the freshmen ran in the Fordham relays, and the JV team (including me and the varsity who were not in top 7 i think) ran in the Molloy Meet, all of which took place in Van Cortlandt on saturday
i ran 20:36 in the 2.5 woohooo lol

and yes, i am from Townsend Harris =D. whats your school? yeah im a junior

I am from Bronx Science, also a junior

so do fresh/soph in your state only run 2.5 and varisty run 5k? it's 5k for everybody here, though the middle school runs 2 miles.

It varies all the time. During the psal meets, which are the "official" city meets including only the schools of NYC, freshmen almost always run 1.5 miles, sophomores and JV people run 2.5 miles and the varsity people run 5k. There are about 2-3 instances during the season where everyone runs 5k. Eastern States was not a psal meet so everyone just ran 2.5 miles.

yeah it varies... so far i have ran (at races)

races-distance; pr

4 -5k pr 26:52 (lol so bad)
3 -2.5 pr 20:11
1- 1.5 pr 12:08 (the only one i ran, it was a bad day for me. in practice i once ran 10:55)

the 1.5 was at the first PSAL after-school meet where everyone including varsity had to run 1.5

oh yeah, this is my first season doing XC (i joined indoor track last year, and at my school track team is a year round thing, unless you do soccer instead of outdoor track)

I joined sophomore year and my best time for a 5k was 29.. be happy, haha. I didn't run the 1.5 this year (nor have i ever!) but I really wanted to :( In my school, you could do whatever combination of seasons in track you feel like doing and I am doing all.

I joined last year as a junior and ran a 21:15 5K (PR, first race was a 22:09, worst race was a 23:30 - I had donated blood that day and :X) ...one year later, I ran a 19:01 on a 4.92K (stupid William and Mary course was 80 meters short.) I didn't even run that much this summer...I don't know where my newfound endurance came from.

wow..cool!

Yeah, William and Mary Inviational (Williamsburg, VA) was a load of fun. Watching our #1 guy run the course in 14:30 was mind-blowing. Everyone watching just stared at the clock as he finished. He beat the 2nd place guy by a full 1:02. Having the varsity guys win the meet just topped off a great day. (us JV guys took 6th).

lol... do sprinters count as runners?

Hell yeah! I run the 400. (53.26 PR, going to break 53 this year.)

wowee
last year, in outdoor (though i was bad since i had just joined the track team)... my best 400 was 79 lol, and 800 was 3:04.. sad
but that should be WAY better next season, since cross country made me a little bit faster at sprinting

We might run VCP for the Footlocker Invitational.
My best time is 21:21 for 5k.
