do sprinters count as runners?

my best 400 was 1:17.03
I was like in heaven, seriously

lol... 400 is a tad too far for me.. my best 200 is 23.0, best 100 is 11.3 but the strength is the lead off leg of 4x100 (im good at turns)

^ please tell me you are a guy

lol yea im a guy

Bumping this thread like two weeks late because I hardly ever browse the forums anymore and only do so to find these threads.

I'm a sprinter, but I'm the most hardcore trackfag ever, so thus the cause for the bump.

Unfortunately, I was injured my senior year of high school (tore my hamstring in the winter, only got two meets in the spring, woohoo!), so I don't even want to think about how fast I could've been. Gearing up for outdoor season at Tulane. . .if the team is brought back, else I'll see what I can do in open meets and transfer next year.

High school PRs:

100 - 11.02 (only ran it twice senior year, one dual meet, and one prelim at states before ripping it in half again [seeded second going into states, too, GAH] can't wait to run it this year)
200 - 22.91 (junior year, never ran it senior year)

That's all I got for ya, unfortunately. . .I never ran a 5K or anything :p

And yes, sprinters are runners :p

EDIT: Enjoy it while you can, I'd give anything to have my senior season back. I keep speculating on how fast I could've run and what could've been but it's just depressing to think about. I haven't run since my injury and I need some closure, I need a meet SOON.

wow your pretty fast... i would probably run those times if i ever get my starts right but anyway im sorry about the injury.. ive decided not to run my senior year since i dont plan on running in college (engineering major+partying= no more time)

I ran in a Varsity CC meet last week! Sure, I was our 7th guy, 36th out of 41, but it was quite an experience.

www.gprep.org to see a picture of the start - I'm number 88...#70 is the guy who won (15:08, beat second place by a minute - he's deciding between Stanford and Yale). I ran a 19:15, my second fastest time ever. I got to see Duplinsky (winner) finish while I ran...he was that far ahead.

Duplinsky won Eastern States earlier this year (12:38 on the 2.5 mile course). I don't know why he wouldn't want to go to Georgetown, they have a great XC program (contenders for national champs this year) and he goes to Georgetown Prep, I'd say he's pretty much in there.

^^Why go to Georgetown when Yale, Stanford, and Duke are calling your house?

Because Duke's team is the biggest joke in the history of the ACC. Yale's men team isn't so great either.
Stanford, if he can run there and not get a stress fracture like all the other freshmen, then more power to him.

I wasn't that good (or that rich :)), so I didn't get to choose between all those schools, but if I was Duplinsky, I'd be going to Georgetown.

Sheez....He must run ALL THE TIME.,....

somebodynew ... does georgetown prep still run their XC invitational each fall? When I was in HS it was one of the biggest meets of the season ... great race ... other than the mob start which really sucked.

Yeah, but we didn't host it this year because we have a lot of construction going on campus (getting a new athletic center, redoing golf course, etc.) Coach thinks it'll be back in 2006 or 2007.

I feel the pain of the injured runners. I ran cross this year for my second year adding 2 mins to my pr of 19:00 due to tendinitis of the knee, however I am really more of a sprinter. I ran a 54 400 sophmore year, but due to the knee problem was barely running 56's last season. I'm hoping I can take off some serious time this year in track and get a 52, but we'll see how the knee feels.

Duplinski is a beast. I (along with most of our boys JV team and another JV girl or two) saw the finish at William & Mary (the rest of our team was warming up or cooling down). We stood there, gaping and incredulous, when we saw his time, but no second place finisher near him.
And his time at Bull Run Invite? That's a freakin' impressive time for that course.

Me? I'm terrible and broke 30 once this season (though it's my first season, I was out of shape before this summer, and I'm a girl), but loved every minute of practices and meets.

^I remember that - everyone was clapping as he came in, and then we all looked at the clock and had our collective "Holy crap!" Then we waited a while for second place. Haha.

He said he got a call from the Princeton coach the next day asking if he wanted a plane ticket to visit.

His time at Bull Run is even more impressive considering he was jet-lagged as hell (he looked dead at school) from flying in from Japan (triathlon junior world championships - he won). His toes were BLOODY. He ended up losing both of this big toe nails.

I cannot wait for track. My goals: break 53 in the 400, run at Penn Relays(4x400), and get an individual medal at conference championships (400).

This girl on my team, Lorena, she is a freshman. and n her first varsity (NYC Queens Champions) she rain a 5k in 19:50... wow. and she even beat our top varsity girl (devotia who came in second at 20:25 or something.. she is like the best runner ever so we were SO shocked when lorena was first)

btw in that meet, i ran the 5k course for JV, in 25:00!! i know its pretty bad but it was a PR by like 1:55! and i was 6th place in Queens (i know, its out of JV so thats not so special) but still!

all we have left is city champs (NYC) at van cortlandt... 5k i hope i do good!

PS... the ING NYC Marathon!! im volunteering there with my track team. is anyone else? are u gonna watch it? im really excited. i think the marathon is so cool. i think im gonna get to had out power bars lol. im working the 14-mile station which is in queens

One more meet (Private School Championships) and then my short-lived cross country career is over. My goal is to break 19:00 on the three mile course - as long as I don't die on the last mile, I should be fine. I've seen the course, only a couple hills: one right after the first miles, and a couple just before the finish.

I ran varsity for the first and last time two weeks ago. I was our 7th man in conference championships. I ran 19:15, finishing 36th.......out of 41, but still, it was varsity. More than I ever expected or dreamed last fall when I signed up thinking, "I'll suck, but at least I'll get in shape."

Then a two week break, and then track starts. It's a lot harder, but a a little more fun than cross country. The weather (in the spring) is better, too.

I did my best time for the 5k at bronx champs - 27:45

That is like 1:30 off my best time. I was sooo happy.

We also have a VERY strong freshman girl this year.
