<p>I think that it is SO important for kids to know that they need to call 911. Son was at a small party a year and half ago. Everyone at the party was over 21 accept for one girl. Son states they were drinking, but not overly excessively. The girl who was under 21 started having seizures. The kids called 911 but were very worried that they would get in trouble for serving someone underage. (She was a few months shy of 21.) Girl was taken to the hospital and had her stomach pumped. Turns out the alcohol had interacted with her anti-depressants. The ER doc told the kids that they were very lucky that they didn't delay because she would have likely died. </p>
<p>I am glad my son and his friends did the right thing. I wonder how many kids decide not to call because they are afraid of getting in trouble. As an aside, there were no repercussions to my son or the host of the party, but they all agreed any consequenses would have been minor compared to the alternative. So if you are a student reading this, do not hesitate to call 911 if needed. It is easier to live with possible discipline, fines or whatever than it is to know that you contributed to the death of a friend.</p>
