Cc then transfer is the way to go?

I never really thought going to a cc first would be a possiblity for me since I didn't really think about money. Now I'm a senior in hs and my mom wants me to stay home and go to a community college and save $.There's plenty around where we live so commuting won't be a probably but what worries me is that what if I don't get in to the college I want when I transfer.I haven't applied anywhere yet but I'm just thinking how much it'd suck to be accepted in hs but not again 2 yrs later.

Also wouldn't it be diffcult to find friends to hang out with off campus? And going to the 4yr also?

I don't know if this is just CA but the cc are becoming crowded and it might be hard to get the class(es) you need/want.

I am having that dilemma w/my D who is a senior. She is applying to 4-5 good schools, but bottom line is how much it will this cost. I fear we are “in the middle” --saved too much for college to get fin. aide, but don’t think we can afford it without us or her taking loans out. Personally my 2 siblings and myself went to a CC for 2 years, and transferred to great schools. Really, in the end, employers care where your diploma comes from, not where you started. BTW I also went back to CC for more up-to-date training and I was amazed by my teachers. The students & counselors were great too.
Good luck!

Thanks I think your daughter should also try applying for scholarships.Maybe her school has a monthly bullitien like mine does.
