CC to CSU

hi there. I’m a sophomore in hs right now and I’m planning to double major in business admin (marketing) and Spanish. if I go to a CC how do I take the courses required for both majors? will it take a longer time? if so should I just go straight to CSULB or CSUN? I have a 3.0 GPA and I’m in Honors English and taking AP spanish as a sophomore.

If you go to a CC, they have articulation agreements with the Cal states. assist.org will help you with classes to transfer. Plug in the CC and then which school you want to transfer and all compatibile classes at the CC will be listed.
If you get into CSULB and CSUN, then I would definitely try to attend as a Freshman unless finances are a problem. Going to CC and then to a CSU will help save money if that is an issue. With a 3.0 GPA, CSULB will be a reach school but you still have a year to up your GPA. CSUN is only accepting local in-service area applicants this year, so not sure about next. If you are not local you may be out of luck. I would focus on your GPA and preparing for the SAT/ACT.

All Cal States (except SLO) use the eligiblity index to determine admissions. You need your CSU GPA and SAT math + CR or ACT composite score to calculate. You want an EI of 3900 for CSULB and around 3600 for CSUN.

(CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math+ CR) or (CSU GPA x200) + (ACT comp)

Use this calculator for your CSU/UC GPA and check with the doorways link to make sure all your Honors classes are UC approved. Most honors English are not so you will not get extra Honors points.

A minimum of 60 units are required to transfer from a CC to the CSU’s and they only accept a maximum of 70 transferable units. If you want to double major go straight to a CSU.
