CC to SEAS

I have applied to and been accepted to Columbia College. I want to do premed at Columbia and really want to be a doctor. However, recently I have been thinking about biomedical engineering more and more and find the field very interesting. I am thinking of majoring in biomedical engineering.

Of course this would require a transfer to SEAS. I read several things about BME. First off, I read that it's one of the hardest majors at Columbia so this would be bad for my GPA and for medical school admissions (lower GPA). Also, some of the BME courses don't overlap with some of the premed requisites.

Are there many BME majors who are also premed and how difficult is it? Is is possible to minor in BME from Columbia College (doubt it) or take some of the BME courses from Columbia College?

BME is not the best major for prospective premeds. However, I have a fairly large amount of friends who either transferred from CC to SEAS or SEAS to CC, so I do not believe the transfer process is that difficult either way given a reasonable argument and decent grades.
