CC to Stanford

So I got into Cal last March, but I couldn't go because finances and parents and stuff. So I'm attending a CC, and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice about transferring, my chances, etc. So,

I graduated HS in the top 8% of my class. My SAT was good, my ACT was better. My weighted GPA was like 4.3, my unweighted was like 3.87. I played a sport for four years, volunteered for over 300 hours, interned in a research lab, tutored kids, taught a second language at a secondary school...basically did everything I could. I apparently did something right, because I got into Berkeley. I took 9 AP classes, and I passed all but one. I also took a community college course before my 11th grade year.

Now, I'm working two jobs part time, I interned with a doctor and helped him with a study, I work for a nonprofit organization that helps refugee children, I'm trying to volunteer at a local children's hospital. My college GPA is a 4.0 so far, although I only took 6 credits last semester. This semester I'm taking 22. I hope to get a 4.0 again- I don't think it will be difficult. I'm also taking a class at a university nearby, along with the cc courses.

I really REALLY have a good essay- childhood abuse, minority, cultural restrictions, the works. My only regret is that I didn't use it last year. I would just appreciate any input or advice. I know acceptance is only like 1% but I really want to get in.

You seem fairly qualified, the issue is its Stanford and plenty of qualified people get rejected…

just a thought- i had a difficult childhood and a difficult family life, but i still managed to keep myself up there. so you think that has influence?

definitely

bump. any more opinions?

It’s a crapshoot so apply to more reaches. Good luck!

Apply to at least 5 other schools. Think smaller LACs as well. Stanford’s acceptance rate is so miniscule that you may need to consider other schools as well
