CC to UC Berkeley

Can anyone tell me what are some of the mandatory courses I should get out of the way at the city college before I try to transfer to UC Berkeley? So far, I "guess" I'm aiming for the EECS department. Thanks a lot.

use assist.org

also get the IGETC completed by the spring semester of the year you apply for admission... don't wait until last second, trust me.

EECS doesn't need IGETC...

Oh, I thought all transfers needed to complete IGETC. If you're right, then nevermind...

yeah just do everything on assist. at my school we have "major requirement" packets that are just the same as assist.

EECS doesn't need IGETC. Prerequisites are basically:
- All Math classes: Calc1/2/3, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Discrete Structures
- 3 CC Semesters of Calculus based Physics (Mechanics, Electricity, Thermodynamics)
- Either Chemistry of Biology
- English

If possible at your CC, you should also take an introductory electronic circuits or Programming language class. But only if they are transferable. It's also advisable to complete to American History and Humanities graduation requirements (1 class each) at your CC.

For more information, see assist.org and http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu/Programs/ugrad/transfer-reqs.shtml.

Might want to fulfill the American Cultures requirement at the city college if you can. I had an EECS friend who had to do it after transferring (coz he didn't listen to me) and I remember him complaining about it all semester. He even accused me of not telling him about the requirement the last semester of city college! I guess it's no biggie since I think u can take it for P/NP at Berkeley.
