Hey there, I'm currently attending a community college at the moment but I want to get the hell out of here already. I've been herefor 3 years yet have not completed all of the prereq core support classes for my major; which is Computer Engineering. I've "accidently" completed the IGETC reqirements due to the fact that I was going to major in psychology but switched. So now im trying to complete all these STEM classes but is lacking the will to stay at CC. My counsoler said i should apply and see what happens.

So i guess my question is,
- What should i do?

I want to transfer Should i still try to apply and see if i get in?

What are the chances that ill actually get accepted?

I have 9 w's from my first year at this college and a GPA of 3.1.

Most if not all the UC/CSUs are fairly strict about IGETC, but there is some leeway on pre-req of major classes. However, with that said, if you are applying somewhere competitive like Berkeley, if you are really short, it will hurt you. Your gpa is rather modest and won’t help at all for the more competitive UC/CSUs

If you have the 50 bucks or so per application fee–by all means apply. Why not–there is no harm. However, you won’t get into the top tier UCs and CSUs this year and you’d be better off waiting a year if that is important to you.

It depends on how many of the major related classes you’re missing (and whether you can reasonably state in your application that you’ll finish them before you transfer). It doesn’t look particularly good for the more competitive schools, though.

The more requirements you can complete at community college, the less “catch up” you will have to do at a (more expensive) UC or CSU.

Note that if [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) does not list a matching course at your community college for some required prerequisite, check other nearby community colleges for courses that fulfill that required prerequisite.
