CC to UCLA

Hello, real quick, i really want to transfer to UCLA in two years. I'm not sure i should do Econ or Econ/biz. I just know the transfer rate is really low, like 11%. Its my first year here at De Anza. I heard that the TAP will increase the chances to get into UCLA,but Foothill college offer this TAP, not De Anza. I'm a De anza student now, should I go to Foothill. Anyone have done the TAP with UCLA before? Hom many honor classes should I take and what's the GPA should I keep? I only have two transferable classes last fall quarter and i got a B+ on Art 2A. Will it affect my chances to do the TAP and apply UCLA? I'm trying to get A for the rest of class. However, I'm not sure about English 1A, because it's my weakness and not my first language. The pre-req only need math 1A,1B and econ 1,2. My plan is transferring in two years. What else should I do? Change major,or do some activates like working at school? Otherwise, my backup plan is do the TAG with UCSD for Management science. But it says need 45 transferable units by the end of spring 2011? really? After this winter quarter, I only got 18 transferable units. Does that mean I cannot do the TAG? Can someone who has done a good job before give me some suggestions?

^I’m gonna warn you now, that 11% for Biz Econ is true, even with TAP without nearly a 4.0 things are gonna be skeevy, it’s pretty much the most impacted major out there. Foothill isn’t the only school in the area that does TAP, West Valley/Mission College do too. They’re in the same program essentially and WVC is nearer to De Anza if I remember correctly. I would cross enroll and apply for TAP, you’ll need a 3.0 straight from High School or 15 units with a 3.0 minimum to apply for the program. Following that you’ll need to take 6 classes to become “TAP certified” that’ll give you a boost. The GPA you’ll need is somewhere in the range of 3.8-4.0… if you have really interesting stats you can POSSIBLY get in with 3.79 and TAP but that would be…really pushing it. I’m not saying don’t try, but please understand you’re in a tougher boat than I am and I’m only likely going to get into UCLA by appealing, if at all. So… buckle down, and get those As okay?

I don’t get why De Anza doesn’t have TAP…
Anyway, for your TAG question: No, you need 45 units by the end of summer session! You’ll have 18 by the end of winter, so you HAVE TO take exactly 18 units (~2 4 unit classes and 2 5 unit classes) in spring AND 9 units in summer (~2 classes and a 1 unit PE course; 9 units in the summer is equivalent to 18 units in a regular term). This is actually very doable if you choose your classes wisely. I’ve done 17-18 units with a 4.0 and I know lots of people took 2 summer classes (a guy I know even took 3 hard ones!) Do this with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, complete your Math and 2 English courses by the end of fall 2011, stay on track with IGETC completion and you’ll get TAG for UCSD.

PS: If you have AP credit you can use it to count towards the 45 unit minimum!

thank you very much guys! I really dont know my major about,I just simply want to get into UCLA as bigger chances as possible. I know the Econ is really competitive, can I do the Econ Tag with UCSD and apply different but have similar pre-req major to UCLA??

You can absolutely do a TAG with UCSD for Econ and apply to a different, not so competitive major at UCLA!
You get to choose the major you apply for each UC individually.
