CC to uni transfer, looking for schools

I did academically well in high school, but I just didn't know what I wanted to do for college so I'm now going to a community college to buy time, save money, and get core classes out of the way.

I'm interested in business or journalism. But I know for sure that I want to study abroad. So maybe some schools with good international business/relations programs?

high school stats:
HS GPA 3.97 uw (my school didn't count weighted)
top 5%/450
SAT: 1780
ACT 28
AP 2x4's and 3x3's
extracurricular: NHS, varsity letter 4 years, editor of hs newspaper, Link crew
won some journalism awards and did a camp/job shadow at a pretty big newspaper
work: swim instructor

community college stats:
GPA 4.0 -just taking core classes
working on the college paper
will join the honors club

Nothing spectacular, I know :( I'm going to take the SAT reasoning to hopefully better my average score, and math & English subject tests if needed.

If it helps I'm an Asian girl (although it seems like being Asian doesn't help the minority status for colleges) and we are super low income. Merit and/or need-based scholarships will absolutely be needed. I'm not necessarily looking for party schools, but I don't want religious, conservative unis.

Please let me know of any colleges than come to mind! I have done a lot of research but the ones I always end up with are too prestigious for me to get into. Thanks!

Getting aid will be the hardest part. There is very little merit aid for transfers, and to get much need based aid, you’ll need considerably higher scores to get into schools that meet full need. Depending on what state you’re from, your in state publics may have grants for the low income.

have you gone to the xfer center at your CC? They should be pretty well informed about schools in your state and what it takes to get into them, also they ought to be able to tell you where other students from your school have been accepted as xfers.

Thanks, will look into in-state transfers

Does your CC have a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa? Your grades should make you eligible, and there are a number of colleges/universities that offer scholarships to PTK members. Here is a link to our local CC’s transfer page [MC Transfer Scholarship Page](http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/Departments/studev/schol.htm) it might give you some ideas.

Do you have any study tips that you don’t mind giving away?
