<p>It’s likely because we’ve only been in the USN&WR top 25 list for a couple of years. We need to prove to the editors of CC that USC is worthy of and can sustain its top tier status.</p>
<p>I don’t think that list has changed in a long while.</p>
<p>There’s a disconnect between USC’s current quality and its lagging reputation. Reputations take time. It’ll happen, although it’s annoying to many of us. Michigan, for example, has been backsliding for years and yet still generally makes those lists.</p>
