CC transfer chances/GPA

Does anyone know what transfer GPA will get you into U of I or give you a really good chance?

In my case I'm transfering as a sophomore into international studies and I'll have a GPA around a 3.5 or 3.6. Also i'm an officer in a club at my college if that helps.

Minimum GPAs needed to be considered for transfer, and then usually higher GPAs actually needed to succeed in being accepted, vary among the colleges and what is actually needed for a particular major can vary from year to year simply depending on number of transfers who apply in relation to number of seats available. Nevertheless, 3.5 to 3.6 is well above any minimums needed to be considered and is usually considered as having a good chance of success. However, you must also meet whatever course requirements are needed (any courses required of freshman in the major area and writing/rhetoric course if transfering into sophomore year) and they also like to see courses taken that are equivalent to those in the recommended sequence for freshman year at UIUC for the major chosen (and for sophomore year if transfering into junior). LAS college has language requirements (either 4 years of the same language in high school, or complete the fourth semester level of a language in college) and semesters in language beyond that are required for international studies so they will be expecting to see that you are taking language. Also, be aware that there is a preference for transfers into junior year (at least 60 transferable semester hours completed when you actually transfer) rather than sophomore year and you can be rejected, as a result, in favor of junior year transfer applicants with lower GPAs. Note, if you are rejected for sophomore year transfer that does not mean you will necessarily be rejected if you try to transfer again into junior year.
