Hello again everyone, I hope your UC/CSU/Any other colleges are rolling in slowly but surely! I can't wait for April 15th and 30th to hear form UCD and UC Berkeley! Good luck to everyone!

Anyways....

One of my friends is transferring from Community College to Sacramento State. She has already gotten accepted, her letter in the mail, etc but she is failing her statistics class! She needs this class to complete the IGETC AND she also needs it according to assist.org for her major (Speech Pathology). Will her acceptance be revoked if she fails or drops the class? Do you think she would be able to take the class at community college this summer (before she transfers) to save herself and still get in?

And of course, she should definitely drop rather than get a D or F correct?

She needs to call SAC and just ask directly. It isn’t as if alerting them early shifts the outcome (the policies tend to be in stone at the CSUs). And it isn’t as if a failing grade would be overlooked and forgotten when sending final transcripts in June, either.

But, as a prelim on the streets response (again, VERIFY with SAC directly!), failing one of the “golden four” for transfer is very likely grounds for revoking her admissions. I don’t think it is the IGETC which is the problem, it is that it is part of the “golden four” classes that are mandatory for transfer these days. The rules on the G4 have gotten very strict over the past few years, including not allowing these classes to be completed in the summer.

I know someone who got rescinded from UCDavis for not having a full 60 credits for transfer – he had a great gpa, all his IGETC done, etc, but he dropped an elective last minute and that dropped his cumulative # of units under 60. He was revoked.

I know someone at SJSU who got revoked for failing to respond to certain emails in time.

Basically the CSUs are looking for ways to shed students because of budget problems.

Your friend needs to contact SAC and figure out her options and if SAC has a hard line on a G4 class. It may be that she has taken another math class that covers the G4 requirement. She should also ask about Stats as her major prereq and make sure that isn’t a problem, either.

My friend is in a similar situation where he needs one math class to transfer from a CC to a CSU. If your friend gets a D, F, or W, that won’t work. I’m not sure if she will get revoked or not, like annika said, call Sac State. I’m almost certain that she can’t take the class over the summer because final transcripts for the Fall semester have to be sent in by mid July, which won’t give enough time for the grade from the summer class to process and be put on her transcript in time.
